New MINI JCW Challenge on the way...

Sounds interesting, the second set of wheels would be a result but the 50 manufactured per year would be a PITA. Saying that the 17" wheels are only about £500 for a second set anyway.
But saying that AutoCar originally reported that Mini were only making 52 cars so I would take it with a large pinch of salt.

Hadn't realised there was an extra set of wheels with it. Would be useful as my winter 15" with the 4-hole hub won't fit the newer models. But saying that AutoCar originally reported that Mini were only making 52 cars so I would take it with a large pinch of salt.

TBH, if they'd included an auto option, I'd have been very interested. Yeah, yeah, I know I'm a lazy old coot.
Well, I have one on order too. I put my deposit down just after Goodwood and was told September for delivery. The extra wheels will be a bonus for sure :-)
I wondering if the issues they are facing are more with the paper work with DVLA, insurance companies etc?? So far, I haven't found any insurance company who list it or know what it is, so I have no idea how much the insurance will be.
I haven't had any comms from BMW/Mini at all... in fact, it's oddly quiet. I would have thought they would be making a song and dance about it. Collecting the cars from the engineers at Oxford would be cool, or arranging a track day for all the owners would be nice :-D ... ok, maybe asking too much!
I'm not fussed about the lack of kit. A decent TomTom and a few retro fit options can bring it inline a little.

A few Mini organised events would be great - Vauxhall organise these for their VXR and Maloo thingy owners.
I wouldn't get too excited about the spare set of wheels, I will wait until I see them before I get excited.
Mentioned to the dealer that I thought comms had gone a bit too quiet for my liking.

I think the article is not very well worded but it's not saying that MINI will build 50 per year. But saying that AutoCar originally reported that Mini were only making 52 cars so I would take it with a large pinch of salt.

MINI has said that they will build an initial batch of 52 cars (50 customer cars and 2 press cars). They have also said that they won't build more than 100. So, if they sell the 52 this year and have orders for 48 more, then I guess that's all she wrote. If they make the 52 and don't sell them all, then they won't make any more.

I'm having the exact same experience with my dealer. Having to pester them for any small details. I wonder has there been an issue with the car and no one is telling us.
Iv heard that these are the other set of wheels

Agree about the lack of kit. In fact I'll just use the iPhone with a sat nav app and a holder.I wondering if the issues they are facing are more with the paper work with DVLA, insurance companies etc?? The issue is not with paperwork. The issue is late delivery of parts. I have an email from my MINI dealer, which has this information directly from MINI HQ.

Care to post it up? Minus the addresses and names obviously.
All I was told is late August/Sept has now become late Sept but I have a guaranteed part-ex price so can live with it. But I have track days booked for October and December.

It's not really a post-able email. It's got personal stuff in it. The relevant bit to people on here is that it says early September delivery date is realistic for anybody who is up to number 15 on the list. Might be sooner but might not either. I also have track day planned for October, so do want it early in September so that I can get it run in on time. All I was told is late August/Sept has now become late Sept but I have a guaranteed part-ex price so can live with it. Sounds good about time. I was hoping to go an see it being built - apparently they offer factory tours now.
So those pics suggest the black roof is purely a wrap or something - they all have silver roofs, oh hang on it might be protective film.

I wonder if those JCWs are in standard trim. I did read they were built as a regular JCW then the bits were added afterwards to avoid slowing the production line.
S
Yes they are in standard trim and then all the boys are added later, which is why they won't do more than 100.S
