Hi all, my gears are a little stiff changing through them. However the clutch seems just fine, it's not impossible to change... just a little stiff and this then makes it a little horrible to drive and put in to reverse.

Anyone else had this problem, I assume it's just the cables?
Or any advice, it'll be seen to shortly, but it'd be nice to know what to expect.

Has the transmission oil been changed at all? BMW state that the fluid is for the life-time of the vehicle. Except it isn't and can be changed quite easily if you can get the front of the car up on stands or ramps.

I did it on my car and it made a real difference so perhaps worth a go. This article will tell you how to do it:

Try the shifter cables, master/slave cyclinders, gearbox oil, grease gear linkage.

Loads on the Internet on various forums if you dig about.

The shifter cables get water on them, that would be the first place I'd look

Thanks everyone, will bring it out of the garage for the first time in a year this weekend and will have a proper look.

Looking to get it back on the road asap.
