Manifold blowing ticking noise.

Hi.

Anyone here had an issue with their manifold gasket joining the engine making a ticking noise under load? As in its blowing. I think I might have this issue rather than the timing chain etc.

Ticking noise gets louder under more load which has started after we fitted a new manifold and CAT.

a) it happens if you don't tighten the manifold to the head before you tighten the cat
b) it happens if you use a thick semi perforated type gasket often supplied by aftermarket companies or manifold suppliers
c) it happens if an aftermarket manifold is used where the cat flange isn't welded accurately, and fitted in conjunction with a or b.
d) occasionally the bolts can back out, but I don't think this is your issue
