emissions light on and car cutting out

hi folks just looking for some advice. Got a mini cooper 07 plate. Emissions light is on and when the car stops moving it just basically cuts out. So any time i stop at lights or whatever the car cuts out.

any ideas what could be the issue ?

Already got a steering column fault thats going to be pricey to fix so trying to judge how much more this problem might cost.

Could be anything Ecu related, best get a cheap OBD code reader for less than a Tenner and a phone app to link to it, then you can read any code's that are stored, my last emission light fault was the post cat o2 sensor.
