Hi Guys,

R53 Cooper S 54 plate, 99,000 miles. To operate the clutch the pedal has to be pressed to the bulkhead and the bite point is about an inch above. It's spoiling the gear change and spoiling the car.

All the info I've found suggests that the bite point of a worn clutch is at the top of the pedal. We've had a good bleed of the system and replaced the slave cylinder. Car still the same.

Does anyone have any good info on why this is? I'ts been suggested (on other forums) that they're all like that, but really?

Appreciate any help guys, thanks.

That was the way the clutch was on my GP1 when I bought it (at 65k miles), really had to press it all the way in. Got new OE one fitted and much better since

Many thanks, I might be leaning to a clutch change.

Clutch change sorted it. The clutch diaphragm spring had flattened right out. A Valeo single mass flywheel and clutch kit sorted it right out, lovely light clutch and a massive improvement in gearchange quality now. smile
