I have a 2004 Mini Cooper S, I am in need of 4 new tyres and I want to remove the runflat tyres, can anyone confirm 215/45/17 will fit ok (I'm considering Toyos).

Thanks in advance

because he probably has 205/45r17v

yes the 215/45r17 will fit right on, I have them in Federal RSR595's, no rubbing when standard with sports plus suspension, or with coilovers only a few mm lower than standard, massive difference with either suspension in the dry at least :-)

I've ran 215/40 Paradas for years and loved them, getting 205/45 AD08s fitted next week so see how they go. Paradas are brilliant tyres for feel and dry grip, bit less in the wet.

FWIW Falken 452s I found a great tyre for the price, not brilliant at any one thing but good at everything. Toyo Proxes (can't remember which ones), gripped like nothing else but felt like wood - hated them

My thanks - I'll get them ordered, can't wait for the runflats to be cast away!

Point taken, however had you said something like.

"Car has tyre size X fitted & I want to fit size Y" then maybe the full story would have given a full answer. thumbup

The Mrs has an R52 Cooper S and has the double scourge, budget runflats! I plan to get rid ASAP, as going from one to the other on my 130i transformed the ride quality.

Ive got toyo t1r in 215 on my r53, they fit ok but the wet grip is shockingly bad, the worst ive experienced.

Spend some extra cash and get the latest Conti supercontacts, I had them last time and they are great - win the evo tyre test every year for good reason.

I'm away to get my 3rd set of Vredestein Sessanta's in 215 40 17, I think they are great esp the feel, I also prefer the look of 40's to 45's but each to there own of course smile

I get on fine with standard size Toyo T1R Proxes on my slightly modified MCS (15% pulley reduction, Airtec TMIC, Blufin) in all weathers. Especially good in the dry on a warm day though and not silly money to buy. I am on my 2nd set now but having had my car for about 7 years and covering only about 3k-4k miles each year in it I had to replace the last set because they were starting to perish due to lack of use and were called out as an MOT advisory! Had Conti Sport 5 on the GOlf R and they were very good too.
