Hi All,

Looking at getting a new mini Cooper for my wife. My daughter has a 62 plate one with the 4 cylinder engine which was her second and both been good cars.

The new model has a 3 cylinder engine which I know nothing off, any horror stories to beware of?

Nothing I'm aware of; it was a new engine so very early in the life cycle for failures to be apparent.

If you can wait for July (rumour), there's a facelift with several refinements to the engine (smoother cold start is the one that got my attention as my neighbour's Cooper was unpleasant first thing in the morning) and better touchscreen. http://www.motoringfile.com/2017/01/12/exclusive-m...

The same 3 cylinder engines appear in the 1,2 and 3 Series BMWs (and i8) over the last 3 years, so there are a large number in use. I haven't heard of problems yet either.
