Anyone got any experience of how much better the 210 is than standard S

Looks like it is installed by the dealer? Can't see how to spec it on configurator

The challenge 210 was a limited edition, fully loaded S with a slight power output tweak, JCW exhaust and body kit.

My understanding is all 210's were pre speced at the factory and were a first come first served allocation.
they will undoubtedly be rarer, but do miss out on some options you get in the JCW. Such as Brembo brakes and adaptive dampers.They don't come with a sunroof. If that should be important.

the 210 is a dealer option that can be fitted to the R56 S's, we had it fitted to Mrs Icehangers 5 door.
The map although mild makes it charge harder to the redline and noticeable torque increase over the standard one, with the exhaust flap open the noise is rather loud!!
Its a great option as it keeps all warranty even though its hard to explain to insurance company's what it is lol

The option is in the accessories catalogue, from memory with the standard exhaust tips it was around £1500 (although some of my negotiation involved that and didn't pay anywhere near that price :-D)

This is a special edition Challenge 210(mine);

These are a limited edition Cooper S with the JCW kit and every option other than a sunroof, electric folding mirrors and auto dipping mirrors. They also come with Carbon Fibre Mirror caps, bonnet scoop and JCW branding on the sill kick plates, steering wheel and badge on the rear, with the obvious JCW Tuning kit of the slight remap and the epic exhaust.

Recently, MINI has started offering the JCW Tuning Kit(which has been around for ~18 months as an option) as part of a dealer offered model on a base Cooper S, so you can have a base model with the 210 tuning kit for a reduced price than ordering the kit onto a Cooper S. As far as I am aware, the car is still regisered as a Cooper S compared to the challenge cars which are specifically called "Challenge 210 Edition" instead.

TL;DR - Its a marketing exercise to sell more cars. The exhaust makes everything better.

Just to clarify, the Challenge 210 was a limited car of 210 all with identical spec in Moonwalk grey. The only option was an auto box. You'll find these only on a '15 or '65 plate.

The Cooper S works 210 is an unlimited factory option on 3 door, 5 door and convertible models accompanying any spec.
Here's a low budget (crap) video I did for social media which may answer some questions for the op.
Watch me nearly crash into a hedge too!

Lastly, you can buy the performance package from the accessories dept and add to Cooper S as has been said but your car will not be called a 210 works. The actual 210 works is a model in its own right so will be called that on the v5 etc whereas a Cooper S will be a Cooper S only if you get me? The only actual difference apart from the name will be painted sills and little 'works 210' badges.
