Does anyone have any ideas as to an audio upgrade for the standard Mini roadster stereo (which is frankly a bit rubbish)? Mine doesn't have the Media pack unfortunately. frown

Any recommended car audio installers in/around London?

Many thanks!

Not used them myself, but think these guys get generally good feedback. They don't have a Mini Roadster listed on their website, but worth a call -

If the MINI roadster is similar to the R55 clubman, then it is a bit of a pig to upgrade.

The rear speakers are clipped at lower frequencies so swapping the rear and front speaker cables can help to give more depth (NAM website has an extensive thread on this topic) and an easy DIY change. (You just need access behind one panel in the passenger footwell)

Adding a different headunit is difficult/impossible, as the stereo is built in the dash centre console. Some have added an additional headunit in the 'secret' cubby hole in the dash but I thought this would be a pain to reach from the drivers seat frown )

Some people have added sub woofers with varying results.

I added a parrot kit (mki9000) which gave me Bluetooth and direct Ipod connectivity (plus USB charging). The parrot has its own amplifier which gives superior sound quality to the MINI system. I also changed the front speakers to some Focal units. This was all done DIY - which was relatively straight forward except the need to remove the speedo and forty screws in the dash to get access to the rear of the stereo! redface

I would also have liked to install some tweeters in the A pillars - this kit is available from NewMiniStuff - but I suspect the roadsters A pillars are different to the standard Mini - but presumably still available with tweeter inserts.

NewMiniStuff are also highly recommended to do a complete install to improve the sound quality but I think they are based in Manchester......

Edit - battery ran out on tablet before I had finished!
