I read about the issues with those but I think from mid-2012 onwards they changed the fuel pump to a more reliable one. what reg year did yours fail on?
It's a later N18 '60' reg. If they've changed it to a more reliable pump then great.

Aside from the pump, only a rear parking sensor has cost us anything above routine servicing/pads/discs in 3 1/2 years and 33000 miles.

Mine is a '62 plate and the pump has failed twice in 2.5 years of ownership... I would still recommend though! Great little cars biggrin

interesting. I read the following elsewhere on a discussion about Mini reliability:

"There are two different versions of the N18 motor. The second version was implemented on build dates after March of 2012. The first version of the N18 still has the Continental High Pressure Fuel Pump that caused a lot of issues on the N14. The second version has a Bosch fuel pump. No, you can't put a Bosch fuel pump on a Continental equipped motor without swapping over literally the whole engine head, fuel rail, a couple fuel lines, and ECU. I learned this the hard way."

But if the 62 plate one failed then maybe they're wrong or there's more to the story. thanks!
It could have been built in Feb 2012, and not registered until later on in the year.

Feels great on the motorway to me - I did over 1000 miles of motorway drivig down to Spain in one day, top down all the way with no discomfort - heated Sport seats with the lumbar support turned up full, and the wind deflector do a great job.

1. Make sure you get one without the "sport" suspension, for a much smoother ride.
2. If it has runflats, bin them for many reasons, including a much smoother ride.
3. If it has 17" wheels, sell them on ebay and downsize to smaller & lighter 16" alloys for a much smoother ride & better acceleration & fuel economy.
4 . Do all three, and it'll ride like a limo in compariosn with most MINI's

My 2012 SD has been very reliable indeed - see this other thread on where the roof fabric rubs when the roof is folded down - look for shiny marks and signs of wear near there.

Rear visibility is fine with the top down for me - if you can't see cars behind in the rear view mirror when the top is down, you're probably sitting too low, so simply raise your drivers seat up a bit until you can see behind clearly.
Rear parking sensors are standard iirc - they make reversing a doddle top down or up.
Get one - they are so much fun to drive.
