I recently bought an R50 Cooper and have been thinking about doing an ECU remap for a little more punch. Has anyone had any experience with this?

Appreciate all your thoughts!

Not true, the basic map on these are poor. A a few mapped and they become a lot more driveable with more power lower down the rev range, seen results up to 14bhp with the average around 8bhp.

What he said. Having had 141bhp out of an '06 MINI One

If you go for a panel air filter and MINI Challenge car modded intake box, manifold & decat sports exhausts then get a rolling road map bespoke to the car rather than a bluefin one you may see some gains

They did a JCW kit for the R50 which may be worth investigating for the cylinder head but not worth the money vs aftermarket when new chrome-extension://oemmndcbldboiebfnladdacbdfmadadm/http://motoringfile.com/files/JCW_Tuning_Kit_MINI_COOPER.pdf

never had the Cooper, but did put an Autologic tune on my One, and a Kent cam which was fun. Now the cam is in my S, which is more fun, but mapped with ByteTroniK which would still be my preferred option if I ever went back. I would do this and stick a BV head on it, and refresh the bottom end too.
