Sorry for the confusion, if I source a UK car which I've done for my previous 3 cars and import it directly to Ireland then I'm liable for crazy VRT (an Irish import duty). However if I own a car abroad for more than six months I don't have to pay this tax when I bring the car home.

I would be liable for NL taxes though as I'm a contractor rather than an employee of an INGO so no special plates for me smile Am I crazy to think this would work?
I suspect NL taxes are worse than Irish ones frown - 21% VAT plus 42% vehicle duty on a new car. These are reduced depending on the age of a vehicle frown

Thanks for the links earlier, I went on to both sites to compare... busy Friday afternoon smile

The Irish site didn't have an Aston but I ran a 2007 XKR Convertible through both and got 9,107EUR for Ireland and 7,800EUR for the Netherlands.

Considering the cost of changing the headlights etc. I'm not sure it's even worth it now. Typical I move to the one country with equally rubbish car taxes. I always fancied a job with Interpol maybe I should start applying now.
