Hello
I’m wondering if anyone can help/shed some light, currently restoring a Gordon Keeble but it was taken apart long before I saw it, and got involved, the problem I have is petrol tank fixings, does anyone have/can anyone take some pictures for me of the Keeble petrol tank mounts/straps and did the doors ever have check straps or a way or stopping them swing forward and hit the front wings? A little leather strap from the A post perhaps?
Cheers Gareth

I don't think any of the three Keebles I've owned over the years have had any straps on the fuel tanks. They just fit in the well of the rear wing, are held at the top by the fuel filler hose, and have been wrapped in various types of padding -from quilted kapok to carpet underlay. The boot side panels also trap them in place.

The door check strap looks like this:

Apologies, image rotated 90 degrees anticlockwise!

Hi, There are two L shaped metal straps for the tanks that curve at the top and joined together by a bolt. That bolt is a complete pig to get too so quite a few Keebles dont have the strap and the tanks seem to stay in place just fine without them. The strap between tank and body will also have the bolt for the front of the rear bumber where it wraps around the body. I know a photo would be clearer but my Keeble is in store at the moment so hope the description makes some sort of sense.

What Keeble are you restoring?

I have a set of rear lights (early type without reversing light). I have had them rechromed, and am in the process on retapping the screw holes and refitting the connections etc..

The plan was to list them on ebay when finished.

Just stumbled upon this, what might have been. I believe the club site still lists one as being converted:

More 3d renderings here

Looks rather good but I guess it's a whole lot easier when you don't have to worry about water ingress and can make the hood & farme take up as little room as you like.

Ch76 at Goodwood Annual vehicle display, unusually no other GKs present, although one of the display cars was owned by a GK owner.

Very nice Peerless selected for display:

Ch76 is currently running a (new) Holley 600cfm on standard GM inlet manifold with adapter plate. This sits a bit high and causes the air filter box to rub against the bonnet heat shielding. I'm having some other work done over the Winter and am thinking of changing the inlet manifold. Does anyone know of an aluminium manifold which will take the Holley without an adapter?

There must be a slimmer adaptor? If not and you are definitely going to keep the Holley you could alter the bottom of your double snorkel air filter where it fits onto the carburetor so that is sits a little lower. I am guessing that you are only talking about a few millimeters?

I run a Weiand 8120 https://www.holley.com/products/intakes/dual_plane...

It's the best low profile square-bore manifold available.

Thanks for the responses guys, Weiand appears to be what I'm after.

On nr. 14,the bottom of the air filter was rewelded lower.
On nr. 57,I had no double snorkel filter but an open one, just put a thinner paper filter packet to lower the whole.

If you're running a Holley, you can use one of these: https://www.jegs.com/i/OER/691/6423907/10002/-1

Allows you to fit a 3 inch deep air cleaner but will clear the underside of the bonnet.

Almost as much as the manifold! I did wonder about a thinner adapter but one I already have is 1/2" which seems to be thinnest available. Don't really want to mess with the original filter housing. Only issue I have with the Weiand manifold is it's not exactly going to look "period" but I guess a few months of muck will help with that.

Just paint it with Chevrolet Orange engine enamel, and no-one will tell the difference!

Slightly off topic but does anyone know if Terry Harris is still in business? I know he was a go to man for GKs.

Popped down to his old workshop on Canterbury Road near Kilburn this morning to find it has been demolished to make way for yet more flats.
