I spent an hour fiddling in the shed last night on the Morris and looked over a few bits of the Keeble, itcvhing to get back on it, but really need to get the Morris done as we use it so much.

Time in the shed was foreshortened by my wife calling to say the home made leek soup was ready....

Be careful Leek Soup is the Welsh Absinthe ... you will start to hallucinate and dream of Welsh motoring products ... :-)

You Gordon Keeble boys need to get to Milestones in Basingstoke in this weather .. it has a Victorian Street recreation inside including a working pub .... you can sit outdoors but be inside .. oh and a Gordon Keeble on display I seem to remember ?

A Date for your calendars, 3rd March, 2013 is "Tax Free Sunday" at the Goodwood Breakfast Club. For anyone who's never been to the Breakfast Club, it's a great event, essentially it's a themed car meet held at the circuit on the first Sunday of the month. Entry is free, themed cars get to park in the circuit and there's ample overflow parking for non themed cars. If the weather is good vehicle turnout can easily run into hundreds with a great variety, last year saw the likes of Ferrari 250 GT Lusso and a Daimler Scout car. There were two GKs in 2012, hopefully we can drum up a few more this year, I'll post again nearer the time. If there are a few GKs going it would be nice to meet up beforehand and arrive together, that way we'd get parked together and be able to get some photos for Keebling.

CH81 is in the shed and still has the exhausts! crude but effective timber blocks to the rescue..

Retro fitted the front bumper Mellow, needed a little work but going to look good and fit well, I'll post a pic of the front and rear when both are fitted prior to paint.

Highly recommend the breakfast clubs,81 made 2 visits last year, me and the wife had a great time, usually a large and varied array of classics old and new, GK's are very well recieved.

Update on Milestones, went mid last year - no Keeble!!!!

I shouldn't think I'll have 57 ready by march in which case I'll be in the Morris, they are jolly good mornings out, I like the November one, we head from there to Brighton to see the veteren cars arrive then home for a road dinner!

The 'ties', with Jim Keeble are actually stronger than the advert suggests... Keebling magazine carried the story of the car in late 2006 (2 articles) and, following its appearance at NEC in Nov 2012, Derek Baker (Jim's apprentice) has written more for the next issue...

Saw this car at the NEC last year and it did look very impressive.

There is also a provisional entry in the next Anglia Auctions sale in April, for a '64 Gordon Keeble which has been based in Belgium, so could be #7 or #59

Pretty sure this was the car I was offered in response to the ad I placed on the GCOK site, by then I'd already purchased Ch76. I see Ch75 is advertised on the GCOK site (which has been updated), Sussex based and seems competitively priced if it's all there, surely you can fit another in that man-shed huntsman!

Just had an "interesting" experience this morning trying to get Ch76 MOT'd. Dropped it off and nipped down the road for a "healthy" breakfast, popped back an hour later only to be told they couldn't test the car as they were unable to get a Reg No./Chassis No. match on the VOSA computer. Apparently it's not unknown on older unusual vehicles and the tester said I just needed to take the reg doc back with the vehicle the next time and if he keyed it from the reg doc it would match. If the tester doesn't enter the chassis number exactly as it's recorded by the DVLA they can't issue a certificate, presumably this has only come into play since VOSA have moved to a centralised computer system.

Has anyone else come across this problem? certainly worth taking a copy of your reg doc with you to save time, now I'm going to have to go through the whole process again next week, which means another fry up smile

My 'advice' would ALWAYS be to take the 'registration documents' (V5...) to the test station - the first time you visit with a classic... It saves time in the long run getting details to 'match'... Unless you want an extra breakfast!!!

All of this activity on everyone else's cars, has made me look at my list of jobs for 2013 again. The one thing I have been putting off is refurbing the doors but I think now must be done.

As can be seen from the picture there is quite a lot of cracking (& an old repair I think) at the top of both doors, mainly on the front, which I believe is quite common. David Y mentioned that Option 1 had done some good work on several cars, and I phoned them yesterday to discuss this. Found them very helpful (it was Frank who I spoke to) but of course they really need to see the car to give me an accurate opinion and quote.

The only issue (apart from how much will it cost!) is that they are a good 2 hour drive away. Has anyone else got any experience of these repairs or know of a reputable bodyshop who could do this, closer to the Essex area?

Hi there - this is Phil Jones - owner of Chassis 48. My car is going through full ground up resto - much of the dismatling I have done in my garage but for the clever part its down at Redline in Wiltshire. I don't know where you are based but I thought I would mention it. The guys there are ex Marcos cars and Joe Cubit who is doing the resto on my GK is an ace fibreglass man as well as a damned good mechanic. You can find them on Google at Redline Sportscars in Hilperton, near Trowbridge in Wiltshire. I am sure Joe could fix your doors and not sting you either. if you call, tell them I sent you. Cheers, Phil.

Thanks for the recommendation Phil - it looks like they should know what they are doing from what I can see on their website. I'm in Essex, close to the M25, so Trowbridge is slightly further away than Bromsgrove (where Option 1 are) unfortunately, but I appreciate your feedback. Hope your rebuild goes well. Alan

Great to find this thread on PH. Long admired these cars.

Have many owners modded them to use more modern running gear or seats etc?

And how well does the chassis handle the power?

Anyone got a Ted ( Edwin ) Davison as a previous owner on their logbook, circa 1972, my wife's Father had one in the RR burgundy colour around that time. It's believed to be around the Chichester area now, it was in Newcastle when he owned it. I was wondering if it was the one sold at the Goodwood auction in around 2011?

I have heard from the oracle of such things....apparently Ted Davison owned chassis 57, my car.

It is still a burgundy colour, was in the Chichester area until April last year but is in Southampton now. It was not on the open market and has not been for over 10 years.

Hopefully back on the road after a long hiatus later this year, welcome to come and see it then.

Wow, that's bizarre, I live in Southampton now, near Hamble. Apparently his was D reg, began with HPF or HPC?

I, and especially my Father in law would love to see it. I'd like to make it a surprise for him, so maybe we could arrange something when you're ready and I'll just pile him into the car without telling him where we're going?

Thanks for the offer, it's very kind, cheers.
