On the rear roof pillar there is a chrome catch that holds the rear side quarter light window closed, its secured to the pillar by two screws. The screws are broken off in the car and need drilling out, is there steel encapsulated in the pillar at this point?
Along the bottom of the same window, there a wide chrome trim along the outside, like a chrome window sill, it is secured to the car by 4ish screws, again, is there steel in here? What size screws? Self tappers into GRP? Or 2BA into steel? Some other mythical fastening?

I'm fortunate to have a specialist classic bodyshop in the family who also has plenty of GRP experience. Not really expecting mates rates but Cornish labour rates far better than South-East and I know he'll do a good job (otherwise he has to face the wrath of my Sister-in-law & Mrs Yellow!) From memory (frequently flawed) there is steel under there. Not sure about the rear window catch but I would guess so – can’t see them breaking off if they were just screwed into fibreglass. Huntsman, there is metal there, I tapped it out to M5 and polished a few S/S bolts to go back in, on the rear quarter sill line for the trim the screws go into fiberglass but you get some parts that have metal as well in the corner of the C post, I used raised head No 4 3/8.

Sorry, 77 not in the vicinty of a camera at the moment. But for others, if it helps two pic of the original trim against the woolies trim so you can see it is close but not quite right, particulalry where it hooks around the aluminium trim and when it is under compression. Right then, see pic, its the backet that bolts onto the drop glass the fits on the piper window motor, both mine have suffered corrosion where they were bolted to the glass, steel bracket, aluminium channel on the drop glass, galvanic corrosion is the result, so I guess others have similar issues.

This may be of interest to Mellow Yellow: you mentioned that the bright yellow of your car meant it was recognised as having belonged to Quentin Keynes.
I own a Jensen 541 and one of the senior Jensen Owners' Club members owned a car that was also originally owned by the writer and traveller Quentin Keynes, the great grandson of Charles Darwin, and used by him on his travels abroad for the first nine years. It was similarly lurid, although I don't know whether that was due to Mr Keynes or a subsequent owner; in this case it was bright red, verging on orange. The car was sold a couple of years ago and has since re-emerged in Resale Silver, for a hefty price tag, in France:

Oddly enough a "finder" did try to pursuade me to buy a 541 when I started looking for a GK, apparently I had no chance of finding a decent GK within my budget, he was probably right but I'm not sure I'd a have got a decent 541 either. At the time I couldn't live with the 541 looks although it's grown on me since, that one look great.
