Looks very nice, estimate seems low but makes the Graeme Hunt one seem pricey. Who's doing Bletchley, are we finally going to see 74-78 all together

Looks like a late addition to the auction? Certainly very little marketing of the sale by Coys! Be very interesting to see what it makes. I went to see it when Purnell Classics had it way back when. From memory they sold it to a museum(?) in Germany for what was a big price at the time.

Seems to have made £64k looking up the unverified result. Not sure if this is excluding commision or not but either way a bit of a bargain in my view for a very nice original one.

Hope to be at Bletchley if I manage to pick 77 up from Terry's later this week.

If the car sold looks a bargain. Not sure Coys did a very good job of marketing nor positioning the sale!

Good to see members at Bletchley yesterday, and seven GKs, thanks to the club for organising it. Ch76 passed a milestone on the way up:

Hi all,
I am looking on the missing parts of the interior.I suppose the left cover around the glovebox is a more or less mirror one of the right one also made in alu 1.5 mm thick.
Is the globebox lid also in aluminum or is it in a sort of multiplex 1/4" thick? David Y.sent me the hinges and lock but now I have to make the rest.

Hi Dirk

Hopefully these may help a bit, I think it's aluminium, it has a lip around the outside which the pale covered panel sits in.

Thks Mellow yellow!
I have one mystery part left: two boltlike long rods, 8" about long? they are both flattened off to a D-shaped flank.

ANSWER They are the vertical 'supports' for the radiator grille - either 4 or 6 per car. :-)

Doesn't look like CH36 sold at the Coys auction (doesn't appear on their results page)- did seem a very low hammer price for what looks like a very nice car!

Yes,yes, I was in Ireland having a drive on deserted roads, something we do not know here in Belgium....

The first photograph shows the sliding roof.On the bottom of the rails on three sides is attached a triplex batten about 5 cm wide. Is this a temporarely strengtening or is it part of the roof.I have difficulty imagining the vinyl covering to come over it on both sides and attach to the wooden side rails.

General view, not much changed since I got the car,but the paint is OK now. The respray was done in the garage in parts, with reasonable result after polishing.

Dirk you could ask TX GT for some photos- looks like a similar aperture in the roof? A quick scan through the club web site (in the portrait gallery section)gave: 4,5,12,19,23,27,32,45,46,49,54,56,59,63,69,70,71,74,85, and 96 as cars which have a sunroof. Must be someone in that list who could help!

came to the conclusion that the strip is needed to hide the sides of the system. Also found a vague photograph showing the presence.
Thks anyway.

Ch.74 does indeed have a sliding sunroof, but one that appears to be of a different design/manufacturer to yours, Dirk. The roof slides in a section – of approx 1/2" depth – on both sides, but there is no wooden strengthening either behind said channel or under the roof lining(!). Difficult to photograph effectively, but...
