Hi folks,

I occasionally source vehicles for a friend of mine in Rome, so far it's just been classics, however, he now tells me that he'd be interested in either a Cobra replica or a BEC.

Does anyone have any links or advice on registration there? I see that UK garage in Milan claim to be able to provide Italian registered kit cars so it must be possible, however, like so much Italian beurocracy, it seems to be a bit of a black art!

Many thanks,

James

this link from the italian vehicle licensing agency lists what you'll need to do
http://www.siit2trasporti.it/page_veicoli/granbret...

With a kitcar the main problem you'll encounter will be obtaining the vehicle's specification sheet issued by the manufacturer listing all of the car's technical data and the EU directives with which the car complies
If the manufaturer refuses to issue that document it will not be possible to get the car registered.

While there are ways to get around that problem, I strongly encourage you to do things the proper way.
If you can't get the spec sheet issued for a certain car, just forget about that one, and look for a different car for which the manufacturer will issue you with the documentation required.

However do keep in mind that even if you manage to get the spec sheet issued, the whole registration process is still a huge bureaucratic nightmare. If your friend is looking for a bike engined car I would strongly suggest him to contact the italian westfield dealer and order one from him, as it is the easyest most painless way to do it.

They really know what they're doing so might be worth having a chat. Alessandro Breveglieri was still with them last year and he speaks english.

Many thanks for the feedback folks, I will look into the process - with care...

One of the problems I've had in the past was with providing the correct technical specs (with an S1 E type)as Jaguar were unable to provide what I wanted. Though it all seems to depend on which ACI you use...
