On Tueday sometime one of the meatl storage lockers in my garage fell off the wall (puuling out 4 large screws) and landed on the Tiv.

In some ways I was lucky as it just caught the nose and the bonnet was up so most of the stuff that fell out of the locker glanced off and the damage is restricted to 3 areas. A strip about 1cm wide and 8cm long on the edge of the wing between the bonnet opening and the headlight where its taken the gel coat off, a semi circle abot the size of a half of a penny on the edge of the bonnet also removing gel coat and a graze on the wing where its taken off the lacquer down to paint about 5cm long.

Can anyone recommend a fairly local (to Ketting/Market Harborough) fibreglass specialist please. Or even PM me with those I should avoid.

I want to get some quotes first and dependant upon cost I might look at some alternative headlight set ups. I really like the faired in ones on the Griff but might also just do an alrentaive involving Lupo lights without re-using the cowels.

Just noticed my typo in the title. rolleyes

Thanks in advance.

Try FGR http://www.fgr-sales.co.uk/about-us/front-page/con... based at just outside Santa Pod. You wont find anyone that knows more about fibre glass than this guy.

Dave Hillis (I think), also known as "plasticman" on PH has a very good reputation. He's in Willington, between Bedford and the A1, so not too far from you.

Give revival bodyshop a ring, there in Northampton and are TVR specialists so any other mods you fancy having done they can do while the car is getting repaired

Old thread I know but am finally about to get round to sorting this out.

I've found Dave's profile on PH but he doesn't have any contact details. Anyone know how I can contact him please?

D'oh!

Thanks Matt. I looked for t earlier and couldn't see it.

Old age and senility are taking its toll and, as 'na' will tell you, I'm not good at reading small print.

So far I have tried calling :

FGR Motorssport 01933 412444 as per their website - Number discontinued but they are contactable by the mobile number on the website. After talking to Roy, he may not be the right person to do the work I need.

Revival Bodyshop 01604 767 971 - Number discontinued

Plasticman - emailed and awaiting his response.

I only have the next couple of days while I am off to get quotes sorted so if anyone has alternative numbers for revival or contact number for plasticman please let me know.

post on another thread answers why Revival's phone is disconnected:

Greg is concentrating on his Martial arts/ Gym business so working on a different kind of body shop.

"TVR powers Body shop only lists central now

>>>

TVR Power has appointed Central TVR as there only TVR approved

body repair & modification centre."

Can recommend someone Daventry way.

Usual caveat of "good, quick, cheap - pick any two" applies though.

Thanks guys.

I won't be using the car in late August so I'm hoping to get some quotes sorted over next couple of days to be booked in during the time I'm away so no real hurry.

In fact it could wait until the winter if need be but I have let it slip nearly a year already.

Heard plenty of good things about silverstone paint, just mind the potholes on the way in though.

I can personally recommend Proline Specialist Finishing in Earls Barton. When I was looking for an outfit to paint my Cobra, I specifically wanted somewhere with fibreglass experience... Proline have done a lot of Lotus and Noble work as well as doing lots of work on classic/vintage Rolls Royce and Astons (incl. concours prep) and so ticked all the right boxes. Gareth (owner) is a thoroughly nice chap, very knowledgeable and an enthusiast. His prices are very reasonable (for the quality of work) and they delivered on-time and kept me in the loop with lots of progress pics via e-mail as I requested. I was very nervous about handing the car over and not seeing it again for months... we all know some body shops can be 'optimistic' when quoting timescales in order to win work. Needless to say, the Cobra was finished within the timescales agreed and the paintwork is superb.

PS. You're welcome to come over and inspect the quality of the paintwork if it helps you in making a decision.
