""This is hilarious, people should lighten up, all it is is a sunday jaunt across the countryside, everyone was given a map with destination, i guess the motto is (although apparently your not coming again), don't be a sheep""

Well I can add a bit more amusement...... The run started when we were still in the showroom and we couldn't get to the car in time before they left (my dad don't walk so quick these days! and we were one of the last few to arrive so right at other end). No quick get away with harnesses to stress/faff with either lol...... Then another Porsche and bmw 330i came past so we thought great, we can follow them, only for them to turn off before the A509! Being good sheep we just thought they knew the way and followed but soon realised they prob just going home/private run/diff destination so we turned around once we hit a very long que/stationary traffic. Having a good laugh at the thought of us pulling up when they got home and wondered who we were, we came across the above group heading south on the 509! excellent..... we found another group going the right way (recognised the cars) and duly followed at the back. (Fortunately the traffic cop following us at this point turned north instead) After a short while then this group went off course!! lol. At this point we folded the directions up and happily followed through some nice country roads only (we were completely lost) to then arrive at the above Fate! We didn't go all the way in and turned around as we were at the back of the group. If in the middle we prob would gone right in though. At the time we thought the group were all friends going to the fate and prob wondering who that bloke is following.....

We couldn't believe we done it twice. Made us laugh all the way home............

Thanks Dovehouse for organising another great day out! The route was pretty good and makes a change from my normal roads to have a blast down. Would be great to see some more photos especially if any were taken of my car (red MR2 roadster).

Shame about the bickering above about a pretty insignificant matter. I imagine pretty much everyone on the drive took a wrong turn at some point, I know I made 2 errors on route.

Redrummo has the right attitude but is clearly not in a team to pre-arrange to follow biggrin

I wish I could contact djdestiny and those that followed him as I have an excellent investment opportunity to offer them from a Nigerian General wink

have a laugh, you're not on a run unless someone goes wrong at some point

we were on a tour where the starting breakfast pub had a few houses opposite and shared the the exit road which was our start point, some of the residents came out to see the cars leave, the cars departed and turned at the end of the short road and everyone clapped

a friend followed after about 20 cars but turned the opposite way at the end of the road, everyone laughed and clapped, about 5 minutes later my friend came passed going the right way and everyone cheered and clapped smile

I made a last minute decision to do the run, its not something I would normally want to do and was the very last of the mislead sheep. It was great fun getting a GT3RS across a filed with foot high grass but i was laughing whilst doing it. Nigel is right, its not a run if something doesn't go wrong.

I had the map though no navigator and I hadn't really looked at it before we left, had to hurry to catch up so was relying on the cars in front going the right way. They went off to Castle Ashby instead, who cares honestly, it was a nice day.

Roads wise, there are some great roads around the area, personally I thought the run didn't go near any of them and there's little point in the middle of the day anyway as traffic is far too busy.

Great to meet you Chris. Your 997 looked great and as a 993 owner I really don't rate them for daily use so I guess you'll need to I keep the 997 alongside a 993 or 964.

Good to meet you too Mark. Cheers for the 993 note. Between my 997 and a 993 hopefully I'll have a working in use all year.

I ended up in a convoy of just my 911 and another. We were bemused at one point when we had a convoy of cars coming past us the other way. Inc the T70S. We pulled over only for them to fly by again pointing we were heading the right way. Managed to catch up with them and a Focus ST I think and all arrived at roughly the same time! Route was good. Especially that little stretch into Hackleton.

Ok as you want to carry on...
If I was at the front of a group of cars that were on an already known route took a wrong turn then fair enough, it's a mistake. But, the point I'm trying to make is this; if you were at the front and knew you were not continuing the route that you've clearly shown yourself to be following for the last 5-10 miles would your concience not make you think that as you are now going off the route to a different destination wouldn't you feel a bit bad that everyone was still following you and that you're leading them off route?
Personally I would of pull in or let the others pass rather than just carrying on to some other event, park up and then announce oh, we've come here for a cup of tea!
Everyone seemed rather amazed at that and I heard various swearing from others, probably more so from the Porsche owners that now had to drive across a field of rather long grass to get back to the road!
Maybe I'm more thoughtful of others.
I'm out.

This is hilarious, people should lighten up, all it is is a sunday jaunt across the countryside, everyone was given a map with destination, i guess the motto is (although apparently your not coming again), don't be a sheep
Hmm I seem to remember DJDestiny/Destination having a similar difference of opinion last year about the police showing up/parking in the street/hgv access near to Dove House.
It is a day out and a bit of fun. Why does everything have to be so serious/spoonfed/mapped out/timetabled etc?
