Eaten at two I roam places in Dunchurch. Omars and another I can't recall - but both pretty good.

as a self proclaimed foodie :-) .... ive spent many an evening, mostly Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and some sundays hahaha - trawling northants restaurants. Plus further afield...

I would say one of the pick of the bunch at the moment is The Crown at Weston (daventryish).

They have had celebrity chef nights (aldo zilly, that aussie tt of masterchef) and I would say the resident chef is better than anyone who has turned up.

excellent choice

Plus edited to add:

The super sausage as per the mentioned link is really quite something at the other end of the scale...

Agreed. Both excellent food, but attitude of staff in Omar's is sometimes questionable. My missus feels very uncomfortable when they drop into a different language and - quite obviously sometimes - start comparing the women in the restaurant. If you follow their line of sight, you can see what they're talking about.

Cinnamon, on the other hand, couldn't be more different. Superb staff, welcoming and friendly; the older chap who owns it also owns Shimla in Coventry.

I have been at lotus silverstone this last week detailing a new exile and have just looked and the crown at weston is quite close. I live next to leamington spa, so isn't very far to travel. Only place I've eaten in daventry was an american dinner type place, but it wasn't very good. Also went to the blue lias in at napton over christmas and it was crap.

The church street town house in stratford is one of our favourites. Or you could try the antelope at lighthorne. The ribs there are awesome, proper nice country pub.

If you're near Leamington try the White Hart at Ufton. Fabulous location especially on a summer evening. It always used to have Wetherspoon's style sticky carpets though the food wasn't too bad. New owners took it over a couple of years back, refurbished the whole place and started serving excellent food.

The Butchers Arms is pricey, but it's great food. We use it for special occasions, like when i've done something wrong, spent too much on a car/bike or need general browny points!

lol, i like it. I suggested it to the mrs, but she says she wouldn't enjoy it because to the price. I said, a, she wouldn't be paying for it and b, when we go to london for my birthday in june, we will be spending even more. I had a client with a couple of astons who used to live opposite and you used to see the odd bentley in the car park. I understand the owners also do classic car storage or something along those lines.

The couple that run the Kings Head in Napton have just taken over the Fox & Hounds at Charwelton. It's proving to be very popular.
