Parts of Northampton

Very un PH. I've sold my car and part of the proceeds are being used as a deposit on a BtL. We're looking at flats in Northampton as its relatively local to us but we live just outside.

We've narrowed areas down to Wootton, Grange Park or Derngate - any views on those as places to live? It's a retirement investment so need to make sure we get the right place for the long term.

I understand there is a decent school in Wootton - I know several people that are trying to move to the area as a result.

Id say Wootton Fields, good schools drive a premium in house prices and demand is high. Anything I've seen to let recently has been snapped up within days, if not sooner!
