100 up today - anyone know what the likely waiting time for a t-shirt will be?
Congrats! I got my 50 shirt recently. I was able to order within about 1.5 weeks of completing BUT there was no email alerting me to the new stock. I had to keep logging on each day until it said they were available. The bad news - they only have Large and XXXLarge in stock

The first time I cracked 30 minutes, there was a 30min pacer, who got away from me in the middle of the run, but I got past him in the last 1km. Definitely helps to have that target!
What I think is happening is as I get fitter each week, I just up the pace and struggle in the same places. I'll try the slower initial pace this weekend :-)
When was this? I've paced 30 mins at Northampton before. Was he 6' 3 with a big nose? What I think is happening is as I get fitter each week, I just up the pace and struggle in the same places. I'll try the slower initial pace this weekend :-)

I'll keep an eye out for you at Northampton though :-)

Main one is Northampton, pretty flat apart from the incline I mentioned above.
I do go to Corby now and then, which has a nasty, but short incline, my time there is slower but I do feel its a better training run.
Mine too! The hill is a pain despite not being the steepest, it is a drag!I do go to Corby now and then, which has a nasty, but short incline, my time there is slower but I do feel its a better training run.
Look out for a tall balding guy in an orange t-shirt - it's probably me!

I'll be the fat one in a blue t-shirt, walking after the hill section lol
Visited Worcester this morning. Set my watch for a slower pace than I've been doing recently as I'm running a 10K tomorrow, but was really struggling to keep with the pace. Managed to finish exactly on the planned pace, and then realised my Garmin had measured it short and I was 45 seconds quicker than I'd planned. No wonder if was harder work than I was expecting.
Feeling really down about this - anyone has a similar experience?
I've been struggling with a dodgy knee for a couple of years - persistent patella tendonitis and IT band syndrome. Working with physios to try and improve it. Any speed work like intervals just aggravate it and set me back a couple of weeks.
Anyway, me and my Parkrun buddy have been really evenly matched since we started Parkrun nearly 2 years ago. We started at around 32 minutes and have slowly bought this down to PBs last week of 26:30. Every week we are usually within 15 seconds or so and after this PB my legs were jelly and my heart was beating out of my chest. I was really chuffed with the time!
I had to miss today's Parkrun as I hurt my knee getting last week's PB. Just looked at the times and my buddy just got sub 25 minutes! Fantastic result for him, but I'm realising there is no way I can match that.
If my run buddy decides to keep running with me at my typical 28 minute pace, is he going to feel really held back?

Whats your knee like if you run slower but longer distance?
It seems to cope ok with that. It's the big impact fast stuff that always seems to cause damage.I've always read that you need to do speed work and intervals to bring down your 5k time. Can I improve my time using longer (slow) training sessions?

If after 2 years you still have knee problems whilst chasing that 5k time , change to 10k or half or trail running.
My times have come down partly due to weight loss but also because 50% of the time i run off road up steep hills.
Give off road a bash , yes your ankles will get a hammering but the ground is softer so your joints get less impact and you'll have to shorten your stride but if it allows you to keep running surely it's worth a bash ?

Yay! PB, 22.55, 2 secs off outright PB and 5 secs of at Preston Park, only the 2nd time sub 23 and first time over 69% age grade.
Knackered but pleased with that and 6.16 mile on Weds but now need to do some long runs ready for Bright10 in 3 weeks.

Took 8 seconds off my PB this morning, down to 22.08, but only 68% age grade!

Very nice course, and right on my doorstep.
parkrun news from today is 1 runner collapsed and died at Doncaster, 1 collapsed, defib mobilised and survived at Bramley. I guess we have to always balance that against the number of people who don't hit the headlines because they have a healthier life due to running but still a shock for the event having to deal with it.
We have a defib (HQ policy is to soon get one near every event) I just hope we don't have to use it, but it's good to know we have one and most of the core team have done CPR and defib training.
