No. Nothing to do about it now really. I've suggested he comes to my local instead. We had a FB post from a runner who said one of the quicker finishers was doing a cool down lap, got chatting to her and paced her to a PB. That's more like parkrun.
I've seen this happen, lovely moment, but thankfully no barging on my local 3 lap course, usually nothing more than a friendly 'passing on your right'.

My PB is currently 26:50, current form a minute or so slower. Still lardy............,and I really struggle with hills. Still walk a short distance too!

I'm trying a 5k on a proper athletics track tonight, what sort of time do you think I should get based on the above? No hills so no excuses.

I reckon between 25 and 26 minutes?

When we switch from the hilly parkrun route to the flat one, people generally knock a minute+ off their times. You will probably be nearer 25 if you really go for it.

Anecdotally by their accounts, friends that have run 5,000m on the track versus road have been between 15 and 30 seconds faster.

Interestingly, they all fared worse running 10,000m on the track versus road.

Running a 10k on a track must be properly boring. Maybe their concentration starts drifting as its another lap of the same thing v at least seeing something different as part of a road race?

That was exactly my thought. The benefit of the energy-giving track is negated by having to maintain concentration, plus the constant left turns must cause additional fatigue etc.

I actually find 10k+ easier on the treadmill with a decent engaging tv program or film to watch.

As a heavier runner, you should smash at least a minute off, if you don't, you're being lazy.
Wanna nother biccie? wink

Have you tried power walking up the hill rather than get half way up it and run out of steam?

I bet you'll find you start running at the top earlier and do the next section quicker compared to trying to run the whole lot.

When I run fast enough I can't think, like my brain is only getting enough oxygen for important stuff. We run on the track quite a bit at my running club and I don't really notice the surroundings. Obviously for a steady run there are nicer places to run.

That is true. When I run intervals or parkrun I don't notice the scenery or think about work or whatever. My focus is only on the person in front of me and/or the mile split times.

19:59 on the local parkrun winter course today. Sub 5 min mile pace over the final 400m to the finish to pull it under 20 mins. Blew past the guy I had been pacing on the last lap just before the finish which took him by surprise smile

Volunteering this week and as last time, really good fun. Barcode scanning again, which means seeing every runner, which is great. We also had a raffle a few weeks ago for a defibrillator, which we drew during the first lap. This week's funnel manager won first prize, and I won third prize... though at least I'd put a fiver in, so had a good chance. That's my Christmas cake sorted!

As an upside of not running parkrun, I got a longish run in on Friday lunch and a long run on Sunday. Time for a restful week. 40 odd xc km in three days makes my legs tired.

Barcode scanning for me on Saturday and timekeeping this weekend. Foot injury is going to keep me from running for a bit, sadly - back on the bike to try and keep my fitness up but I don't enjoy it nearly as much as I do running frown

Well I guess if the funnel manager has a pre-existing heart condition then a defibrillator is a very good win for him and his family. Personally, I think I'd have been happier with the cake..., but that's raffles for you. hehe
