My youngest started at 4 and has nw done 23 runs. My eldest has been doing SATS all week and when I picked him up yesterday wanted to know if he could do parkrun this morning despite the fact that he was doing a 4k race this afternoon.
So this morning he did a 25 minute parkrun and this afternoon a 22 minute 4k. He struggled a little this afternoon as his 9 year old little brother did the 4k in just over 20 minutes but then he hadn't done parkrun this morning.
They announced that the junior park runs will get a half marathon wristband when they complete 11 and a full marathon when 22 have been done (I think thats right), and an ultra one aswell not sure of the distance. The kids run every week now, and I think they will get a 10 parkruns t-shirt, do I need to pay for this?So this morning he did a 25 minute parkrun and this afternoon a 22 minute 4k. Sopping wet conditions this morning but I managed to run a season's best for 19:35. Had a chap with a pushchair nipping at my heels so couldn't lose to him (pushchairs and costumes are a big no-no).
For anybody that cares, my local event (Cannon Hill, Brum) is hosting the Parkrun ambassadors weekend next Saturday, so Tom Williams and Paul Sinton-Hewitt will likely be there, amongst a few others.

Good luck to your kids - hope they continue to enjoy it and earn their shirts.
No parkrun for us today as I was racing 10k this evening so the little lad came and cheered us on running that.
Todays news "Paul Sinton-Hewitt, founder of the Parkrun organisation, which aims to get people into running in the UK and overseas, becomes a CBE for services to grassroots sport participation."

And very well deserved. Met the man a few weeks ago and he's so humble, preferring to stay out of the limelight!http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-27830525
Bitter-sweet parkrun for me this morning. Travelled to Wolverhampton's event (flatter course than my home) and PBd by 10 seconds but missed out on receiving the surprise parkrunner of the month award at my home event! Won't be back there until 2 weeks for my 100th.

Congratulations on completing your 4th parkrun and your 4th at Whitstable parkrun today. You finished in 34th place and were the 31st male out of a field of 163 parkrunners and you came 2nd in your age category SM30-34. Take a look at this week's full set of results on our website. Congratulations on setting a new Personal Best at this event! Congratulations on your fastest time this year.
23.52 - determined to get under 20 by the end of the year !

My first international parkrun at the weekend at the lovely Marlay park in Dublin.
All the Guinness seemed to help fuel me and I knocked 12 seconds off my pb.
Surely one of the rules at parkrun is that the first run anywhere is a new PB!All the Guinness seemed to help fuel me and I knocked 12 seconds off my pb.
I do now need to beat my pb at my home run.

Surely that would be a PCB - Personal Course Best. PB should be reserved for your best time over a distance (and surface perhaps..?) overall.Edit: When the first Bath parkrun starts it will not be a fast course - it's trails the whole way with some rougher sections and quite twisty, plus there's a flight of steps! I guess parkrun have added a third category to the usual runner's two types of 5k PB - track PB and road PB has now become track PB, road PB and parkrun PB.

My home parkrun is not a fast one (Orpington) with rooty trees and lots of grass to run on. Hardly ever run a 5k there or anywhere in anger given that I am usually running with one of the kids. Need to find a fast flat parkrun and see how I get on.

Just contributing to say I've just joined and hope to enter the Leamington Spa event this w/e.
Finishing in a modest ~30min is my target. You've got to start somewhere.
Good on you for getting out there and giving it a go.Finishing in a modest ~30min is my target. You've got to start somewhere.
Parkrun really is just about getting out there and running - most of mine are done with one or other of my kids so don't really see me pushing myself at all but it's still enjoyable.
There's plenty of people for whom 30 minutes is a world away. Top tip is not to go out too fast - it's very easy to do but not good. If you have energy left at the end you can speed up but if you have burnt it all early you can't get it back.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.
