I'm on course (no pun intended) to hit my 150th parkrun and my 50th different course on 20th April. Currently trying to think of where would be a good location to celebrate. Any recommendations welcome, a mate and I will probably make a day of it somewhere.
Somerdale Pavilion for comedy value or Severn Bridge for the views.

If anyone is unaware, I'd highly recommend the 5k app. A lot of fun challenges in there and all the data automatically pulls through from your parkrun barcode so minimal effort. I'm very close to completing stopwatch bingo (finish time on every second, ie 25:00, 27:01, 34:02 etc), but as it's near impossible to target, it's pot luck whether you get one or not.
Some of them are a bit daft though. The 5k app told me saturdays run counted to the achievement "Snakes", which is run 10 that begin with an S. "The full Ponty" seems pretty silly for anyone who doesn't live near Wales too.

I don't know if there's a way to tell how many runs it took, but I'd completed stopwatch bingo before I knew it was a thing, and it took my wife about 2 years longer to do it biggrin

Rocup has announced they'll be at Cannon Hill this Saturday.

Apparently, local councils are looking to finally step in and address the situation.

Is Somerdale Pavillion the one where you run in circles for part of it??

I've done Severn Bridge in 2020. One of my favourites, more for the novelty of running in two different countries than the views .

I'm guessing that's what their "Big Announcement" will be.

3 times round the curly wurly. I got a bit dizzy and it's hard to see if you're catching people up.

Just stumbled across this thread.

Im on 11 runs! Started in December 2023

Local park, Gunnersbury

Not a "natural runner" but really getting into these Saturday park runs!
Spookily similar here. Registered mid December 2023, completed parkrun number 11 this morning, and definitely not a "natural runner". All mine have been at Bournemouth (King's Park), where the start line is almost exactly 1 mile from my front door.

This morning I managed to set a new PB. Nothing to set the world alight, at 29:15, but according to Strava it's also my second fastest 5k since I got my first Garmin in around 2012/2013. I "celebrated" by running a full 10k on my run home, although that was done at a far slower pace... hehe
clap Keep it up!

Amazingly Gunnersbury Park attracts on average around 600 runners every Saturday 9am. The first time walking to the start line at that time in the morning felt like attending a secret rave....

Starting to consider perhaps investing in some running shoes....

PB 26.39. Averaging 27-28min

I've turned some of them off - I'm never going to run in other countries for the foreseeable future or run on any other days than Saturday so I've dropped those. I should probably drop the Old MacDonald one (runs beginning with E, I, E, I O) as I don't have any and this is where they are...

But it adds a bit of fun to it all so I'm happy to keep feeling happy when I get another stopwatch bingo!

I do have an unshakable competitive element in me, but I've just adjusted what I'm competing with. I'm not even competing with myself anymore, because I once ran a good 5 minutes quicker than my current best, but it's racing against my current self, and other average 37 year olds!

Take a trip down to Bushy Park, and tick off the "Where it all started" achievement?

I have a friend up to 260 parkruns and still can't get the last one for stopwatch bingo, I have offered to be timekeeper and let him know when to cross the line but he wants to do it properly!
Bushy is an option, although my mate has done it so we'll probably do an event we both 'need'.

I've really got lucky with stopwatch bingo. I'm on half as many parkruns as your friend but only need :02, :09, :15 & :19 to complete.
Just checked and it took me 288 runs to finish stopwatch bingo

It took me 2 years / 73 runs to get my last 4 so it might be a while till you get them! (assuming you finish randomly rather than aiming for around 2 ,9 ,15 & 19 ) smile

That's a good point, diminishing returns!

I'm aiming for a 25 tomorrow so could well be a 25:02...

The odds are that on average you'll need 15+20+30+60=135 runs to get the last four.

Pacing duties for me on Saturday. Came in 1s under without any slowing or loitering just before the line! One of the easier courses to pace though and pacing a time which is close to what I typically run there about once a month anyway.

Nice to see the person who had a cardiac arrest at the finish only 4 weeks ago being introduced at the start of the run and looking well (just spectating for now!).

Did my first sub 24 minute 5km on Saturday at Nova Prestatyn after 6 years of Park running when I did a 34 minute at my first go. Unfortunately not a sub 24 minute Parkrun as it measures 3.15km but still a PB for me. It measured 3.15km in September 2021 when my sister did it in September 2021 as well ha ha!.

59 seconds slower than my quickest time of the year, mostly as I'm coming back from a horrible cold that stopped me running for a week.

Hopefully I'll be back to running at a decent pace again soon
28 seconds quicker than last week, recovering quicker than I thought I would

Took my 7 year old to his first junior on Sunday.

He loved it... And loved sprinting away from me on the home straight!

Oof, that's a big one to cancel with 400+ runners and 30+ volunteers every week. A few have been cancelled around here due to lack of volunteers but they're the 40 runners and 10 volunteer type ones (Flegg High and Great Yarmouth North Beach).
I wonder if there's a bit of fatigue setting in with the volunteers with a lack of new blood stepping up to volunteer? I try and keep it at a 10% volunteer ratio but looking at the results that's quite rare.

Vale Ultra is a big coastal path race, so a lot of people are on that this weekend. Aberfelds also cancelled for same reason. So about 500-600 runners going spare.

Porthcawl has been busy with the better weather.
