First parkrun for me today. 21.35 at Wimbledon. Quite a wet muddy course in places, with some large puddles. Made for quite a careful zig-zag route to try to find a dry-ish line and avoid exposed tree roots.

Really enjoyed it though, even if I was on the point of dry retching over the last 600m! Fantastically simple idea, and great to see so many people making the effort to get outside and test themselves. Brilliant.

I'd imagine some of these courses must become a bit tricky over the depths of winter when it is very wet. Having broken my foot running last year on slippery ground laced with tree roots, I'm a bit wary of that sort of terrain.

Doing a 7 mile trail race tomorrow so tried to take it steady at park run this morning, did 22.08 which is exactly my average time.

I actually felt very comfortable at that considering i have had barely any sleep this week due to being on nights and i only returned from a week of drinking and stuffing my face early tuesday morning.

Our course - Orpington - gets very muddy. Last winter I bought a pair of shoes which were almost exclusively bought to do parkrun. It's one of the few runs I do which barely involves any road or harder trail just park and rugby pitch.

Pulled out of Park run yesterday after around 3.5km because I was starting to get a stomach ache. I'm not sure why, but occasionally I get a bad ache, almost a burning sensation without the 'hotness' in the middle of my stomach if I'm running. There's never any after affects (luckily) but it can be quite uncomfortable

For anyone who just can't get enough of parkrun or wants to drop hints about a stocking filler. Not available yet but due to be out before Christmas. I think there's also a coffee table photo book to follow as well.

99th parkrun this Saturday so we're going to Bushy park for the first time. This will be my 20th different parkrun too. Probably spend the rest of the year back at Swindon before trying to do one new parkrun per month.

Did my first PR today and managed 25:25 which I'm not too unhappy about considering I'm 51, had an nasty achilles injury 5 years ago followed by a bodged operation which was eventually re-operated on 12 months ago and I have only started running again seriously over the last few months with no pain or uncomfortable lumps on my heal.

I'm lucky enough to have a mini gym at home and run on a treadmill most days and regularly run 5k in 26 minutes and go up to 10 miles on occasion (the last f1 GP for example, having a 42" TV in front of the running machine with Sky can make the time pass!) but mostly 10k and in about 55 minutes or so - for me it's not always about speed but about the 'me' time it gives me after work for example.

I found it much harder than I thought I would today, clearly carrying around my frame is clearly more difficult than bouncing up and down on a treadmill wink It was also muddy in places (most places actually) which made the run more interesting (and ruined my new running shoes!) and it was interesting to see young children running away in the distance after the start.....only to be passed on lap 2 or 3 smile I had one little blighter think he could run past me once we turned for the finish............no such chance little man, I'm older than you and on a mission and I kept my place hehe

35th out of 148 and 4th in my class so I've got a good goal to aim for.

I'm only able to run every other week but look forward to the next one (Horsham by the way if anyone else runs that one?)

Some of these kids are crazy fast, Frimley has a 10 year old girl whos PB is 21:42! I quite often run with a mates 8 year old and she's dragged me round to a couple of PBs and not yet got me anywhere near her 26 min PB biggrin

Not done Horsham yet, got a couple of mates who started there though so planning to visit at some point.

Finally got my 50 shirt today, 12 weeks after ordering it. I think they're starting to struggle a bit with the scale of the operation, I assume the shirts are all organised by a couple of volunteers, and we've usually got a couple of people hitting 50 every week so nationally there must be hundreds.

I had used the little lad as a pace setter earlier in the run and then left him but didn't expect a go form him in the latter part of the run!

Obviously I can't compare Horsham to anywhere else but it has a bit of path, lot of grass (read that as mud!) and some mild slopes which require a spurt to keep the pace up.

Will be interesting to have a go with no mud, I fell once and I'm sure other tip-toeing around lost me valuable time.

Onwards and upwards as they say!

Lots of options not too far away that are mud free, Tilgate, Hove, Clair park Haywards Heath (but lots of hills), Preston Park Brighton (my event).

I will be at Horsham in the new year one week, not worked out yet when.

100th parkrun done! Nice easy jog round in good conditions at Swindon. Next week I think I'm going to volunteer as we're a bit short.

Well done smile Take care of the T when it arrives, it's a long time till the 250 arrives! I'm on 112 and was working out how long until I get the 250....allowing for weeks I'm run director it's minimum of Jan 2018!

Did my 50 in Copenhagen and appear to be in the club on my profile, but no email about the t shirt. Wondering if the system has got confused as I wasn't at home to do it.

It should be OK doing it in Copenhagen.

Have you filled in the size choice? I wrote an explanation here of where to do it.

There seems to be a bit of delay still in sending out shirts, but as they are free we can't complain too much!

That is what I'm missing. It just says I am in the 50 club with nowhere further to add anything.

I have emailed them and they are having a look into it.

Not really complaining but it took a fair bit of effort to earn it in a year.

Fortunately when you mail support you're talking to people who have the ability and sense to sort things out, they won't reply and says 'Computer says no', they'll either be able to fix it or tell you why you can't have one yet!

Some of the kids are quick. My 5 year old has improved his PB significantly this year running just under 30 minutes at Finsbury Park and just over 30 minutes at our hom erun of Orpington.

My two eldest (11 & 9 at the time) both have bests of around 24/25 minutes.

The now 10 year old is representing his town primary schools in the mid-sussex primary schools cross country next month - not bad considering he is mixing it with the kids a year older than him.
