Bushy parkrun? Pretty much flat and its where it all began smile

The downside is that it is proper busy. Just under 1000 people there last week.

It's addictive, isn't it? I am doing six months of treadmill (forced on me because of location/weather) but it's a great feeling shaving bits off your best times. I can't wait to transfer it to my first Parkrun when I get back home in November. Once upon a time I'd have been concerned that treadmill would not translate into road running times but I've had positive results in the past so game on!!

Well done BTW! smile
Cheers biggrin

I find it very addictive and it gives me a target to aim for. I usually find running quite boring but having a time to beat brings a self competitive side in to it, which I like! That and having two mates currently running quicker than me hehe I'm going to start throwing a mid week run in soon.

What time will you be aiming for?

They've changed the course since I was last there at the beginning of the year (some say for better, some for worse...) Still on the cards for another visit for the novelty of a mahoosive Parkrun.

I'm staying in Kensington and the closest event appears to be Fulham Palace, which looks fast and flat. Also a 3 lapper, so potential for a lot of overtaking in the final lap.

My local one is also a 3 lapper. A shout of 'keep right' when you are near the traffic generally gets them out of the way wink

If the marshals are switched on then they shout that as well when they see the quicker runners coming.

I'm running 4 miles in between 26-27 mins and 5 miles in 33-34 mins at the mo (both run on treadmill). When I run both I pass the 5k (3mile 200m) point at 20:30 so I'd hope to break 20 minutes.

As I have 3 months of enforced treadmill time left I'd hope to continue shaving time off those. I was contemplating a sub 40 10K during my time here so that will be another target.

Running with faster guys really works, in my humble opinion. It'll bring you on faster than just pushing yourself to work harder.

Did a few parkruns at Maidstone a year or so ago- then we had a baby and life got in the way a bit, had a couple of months of reasonable training so might try and get down there on Saturday and see what happens, I'm not as fit as I was a year ago but got to start somewhere!

What's frustrating is my local parkrun often gets "won" by a guy I used to go to school with, we both used to run for the same club so I know I should be able to beat him if I could get some consistent training in!

It's funny; I remember running down the right on the Plymouth Half a few years back and had some guy shouting 'get out of the way'. I turned around to see a guy in a wheelchair doing about 20 mph behind me! I guess there isn't an universal 'side' to be on?

I ran the new course for the first time the other week, I think it is a bit quicker as the initial start point is a bit wider and you can get through some of the crowd easier. Managed to beat my 5k PB on that visit so can't be too bad!

The previous version of the Bushy start line was already pretty wide as well. Good to hear you like the new course.

I've decided to give Fulham Palace a bash. Easy to get to and allows for a quick getaway back to Kensington. Looks like a surprisingly deep field for an event only in the 200s.

Danny Norman did suggest that FP was a bit short, if so you should get a good time wink

Did some digging around and he wouldn't be the first to suggest that!

Looks like the course was slightly modified at some stage to finish off grass, so one would hope they adjusted it to be closer to 5k.

Good stuff, that's a great time! Sub 20 is my long term target, plus one of my mates consistently runs around 20 mins so he's my target! Keep it up and you will have it no problems when you're back!

Last week was the first time I started further forward (400+ runners) and it made a huge difference as I was running at a faster pace straight off and not wasting 30 seconds having to pass people!

Be interested what you think, looks like a fast course but I can't say I enjoy multi-lap runs. Looking at the results a guy in my age group got an 86% age grading, that's pretty impressive!

Surprisingly good parkrun this morning after a late night and plenty of beer/cider/wine last night. Time to be confirmed but 16:41 or so for a course PB by a few seconds.

I'm not that co-ordinated!

Time rounded to 16:42 so 7s outside the course record (if we ignore the "unknown" a couple of weeks ago who apparently went sub-16!).

That was me. I managed to somehow knock 15 minutes off my PB but forgot my barcode.

81st run and 22nd location over 3 countries. Not too bad for 20 months of parkrunning.
Good work. Strange how you find yourself planning to fit in parkruns when you're away, we quite impressed to find one started a couple of miles from our hotel the week before our honeymoon biggrin

I'm only on 20 venues and 2 countries from 90 parkruns so far, but doing Dublin next week, shame the overseas ones don't count to the total stats though. I met someone the other day who's doing her 100th different venue next week, that's a pretty exclusive club.
