I've got Brueton tomorrow and then my usual Cannon Hill haunt on Boxing Day. Will do the Brueton and Perry Hall double on New Year's Day followed by Cannon Hill again on the 2nd.
By my calculations, and assuming I don't get ill or pick up any more injuries, I'll be running for 20 days straight without a rest day thanks to the extra Parkruns on offer.

If there was a Parkrun on Christmas day (Friday) does that mean they don't usually run the event on Saturday (Boxing day)?
The rule of thumb is if it's Saturday, then there's Parkrun, so it'll be business as usual tomorrow on Boxing Day. It's up to the individual event teams to decide if they wish to lay on an extra Christmas Day or New Year's Day event - the exception to the above rule is if Christmas Day or New Year's Day falls on a Saturday, then they can choose not to organise something.Ran at Brueton Parkrun this morning with a few hundred others. Had a belter of a run and realised I was in with a shout of a new 5k PB with 1km left to go - fell short by just a couple of seconds. Shouldn't have had that curry last night followed by brandy...

I've recently started doing a Junior Parkrun with my 7yr old lad and he's loving them. Done 3 so far and all have been in horrific conditions. Doesn't seem to put him off and I've been enjoying getting muddy.
Well things are improving rather rapidly for mini JQ. I've stopped running with him as I felt he needed to do this by himself so he could learn to push himself and it's had quite an impact. In the last 3 weeks his times have gone from 11:04 to 10:06 to 9:15. He was 6th today with everyone faster than him a fair bit older and all members of athletics clubs. I'm now currently trying to find a local athletics club which fits in with his current timetable but it's not looking good. Looks like we'll have to start running together instead.RizzoTheRat said:
Well done, is that a tarmac course? Double parkrun this morning (Rushmoor and Frimley Lodge), both muddy and slippery and a lot of hangovers going on, not many PB's and I couldn't even manage within 6 minutes of mine
Probably 80% Tarmac, the rest a muddy downhill farm track and a steep uphill through the woods (2 lap course), there were a lot heading off to do another this morning.Edited by RizzoTheRat on Friday 1st January 16:16
Only a couple of glasses of prosecco last night so wasn't rough fortunately.
Back again tomorrow

Congrats on the PB - 2016 off to a good start already!
I'm bloody knackered after Brueton Parkrun (flat, mostly tarmac) at 9am and Perry Hall (cross-country lite) at 10:30am. Happy with 19:05 and 19:56 respectively!
I want to run under 20 mins this year, credit to anyone running two under 20 in the space of an hour and a halfI'm bloody knackered after Brueton Parkrun (flat, mostly tarmac) at 9am and Perry Hall (cross-country lite) at 10:30am. Happy with 19:05 and 19:56 respectively!
Double today at Hove Prom and Park with 2.5k warm up before and 2.5k 'recovery' in between.
Not going for it on either, on the first saving something for the second and on the second tired from the first but quite pleased with only 8 secs slower on the second one even though over a minute slower than the handicap 5k we did on Tuesday, but I guess I should have been running at 10k pace not 5k so it was about right..
Relieved to be Run Directing tomorrow so I get a rest day.

Cheers! I'm running at my home course in the morning - fingers crossed I'm not too busted!Dreadful wet and windy conditions this morning. I had my first go at one of the other local events - Southwick (Trowbridge). The course was awash in places but was still firm underfoot thanks to the well-built path in the country park. The course record of 15:03 is very impressive - I managed 16:28 today for 1st finisher.
Hope everyone else had good runs today

Our local course records are 14:47*, 14:47* and 14:28.I saw someone run that time at mine and I felt like I was walking in comparison
They are on tarmac but multi lap oourses, 1 is 2 laps and would only be lapping the stragglers but the other 2 you'd catch the tail end after 2.5 and 3 k so it's pretty impressive to do that pace while weaving in and out of people wearing headphones or chatting and dodging other park users.
- Same guy, different courses.

Noobie runner question: What do you do about muddy trainers after a Parkrun?
Leave the as they are?
Scrape the worst off and leave them?
Scrub them clean with water and an old toothbrush?
Stick them in a washing machine?
Avoid the washing machine.Leave the as they are?

I've done all of the rest My usual solution for very muddy shoes is to hose them down, squeeze them out then stuff with newspaper to dry them out more quickly. It tends to have to be very muddy for me to wash them at all though. I'll often deliberately find puddles on my way home/warm down to rinse them a bit.
I just use the garden hose, with spray nozzle and blast them clean (and my legs) and then leave them to drip outside for an hour or so, then pop them atop one of the radiators in the back room - to dry indoors. I only use the trail shoes for my Wednesday Fell runs and my Parkruns, so even though they get soaked twice a week, they have time to dry before I use them again.

I put mine in the airing cupboard to dry off. See if you can guess which ones are the parkrun shoes Leave the as they are?

Edit: Adding a photo on the iPad turns it upside down. Great... (now fixed)
