I love Ping Zings ( or the ones that were out when i played ) always wanted a set. Ive seen some on ebay but thought irons might of moved on since then.
It all depends on me getting a new job tbh hopefully will be working shifts, i just dont get chance to play at the moment with having a young family etc.
Just really want to get back playing.
I played Zings for 15 years until last year when I changed to Mizuno MP62, because I'd convinced myself I was better than the Zings, and to attain true greatness, I deserved nothing less than a forged blade/muscleback.It all depends on me getting a new job tbh hopefully will be working shifts, i just dont get chance to play at the moment with having a young family etc.

This was bks.
The Mizunos are truly lovely, and a step-up over the Pings in quality, but £150 spent on Ping Zings is a great, great deal I'm sure you wouldn't regret - they're very forgiving, beautifully made, and very few golfers would want for anything more.
Compared to the gaudy, flashy rubbish the big brands are turning out now in cavity-back, they're very very tasteful.
Golf club depreciation is a bit like cars.
First owner takes a massive hit, but gets to tailor their choice exactly to what they want/need.
Used buyers can make huge savings, and still have a great set of clubs - providing they know what they're looking for and don't mind that someone else has worn the clubs down a bit.
£200 on clubs, few lessons and free waterproofs/bag/shoes would be my advice if sums of £400-£600 are being mentioned

I agree. With time and energy spent on getting the right shafts. Whatever you need - R300, S300, X300, 4.5, 5.5, 6.5, 1050, 1150, etc, is out there. It's worth waiting a while to find it, and then bidding that extra £40-£50 to secure it.
I have a set of Ping I3's I bought 5 months ago from American golf's Ebay clearance shop for £125, scrubbed up to near new condition (I replaced the shaft labels, regripped them and re-painted the markings) Superb irons that are absolutely bullet-proof and well worth the price you can pick them up for now.
New or 2nd hand doesn't bother me as long as they have been looked after.
Got my clubs out last night just to see if they were useable which there not - grips are fit for 1 thing only, the bin.
Plus some of the clubs look like this = worn out. I used to play / practice a lot.
At least I no I can hit Zings or used to be able to I've used them quite a lot.
What's the crack with shafts then ? It was a case of stiff, med or soft when I played + no way am I having graphite shaft irons.

Tough to say over the internet, and I'm not an expert, just a pleb who's convinced of the importance of getting this right.Do you know your clubhead speed? Transition style? American Golf (and other places) have a nifty Mizuno gadget that measures different aspects of your swing and gives a few shaft recommendations to start from.
Have a look at the video on this page (and try to ignore Luke Donald attempting to say what they've told him to say without sounding smarmy - and failing!)

Nice one thanks will take a look at the vid tonight.
I've not got a clue of my club speed or anything like that. A video lesson was about as tech as it got when I was playing.
Presume I generated pretty fast speed as I did hit it long.
Suppose I best get to the range and have a crack with some different stuff.
At least I can use my Dads clubs while I decide what to do. I won't be starting again for a while so no great rush.

Had my 1st lesson last week, which went quite bad after the winter break. It feel like I'm starting from stcratch again. Apparantly I'm flicking the club, not rotating the hips enough and at impact my hands are behind the ball and should generally have a wider arche (so everything about the swing is wrong ha ha).
Even after knowing this I found it so hard to try and get my hands infront of the ball, are there any routines I should be doing to irradicate this problem?
also, sorry, whats the best (& easiest) way to sell clubs? Got a full set of Burner 2.0's (irons, 4xwoods, wedges & bag + acc's) less than 8 months old but can't be bothered with the hassle of selling the clubs individually or risking letting them go for peanuts as a pack.

Concentrate on holding the angle between your wrist and shaft until your hands are back down to hip/waist height, then snap the clubhead through.FellowPazzini said:

Best for return? Ebay. Best for convenience? Part-ex at American Golf, but be prepared to have your trousers removed. Loads of websites out there buying clubs - most re-sell them on eBay and such things.
One a few of my mates use and recommend is www.golfclubs4cash.co.uk

If they're decent knick and look clean sometimes your local Pro shop or driving range might let you advertise or even sell them for you at a cut, or try your local papers small ads'First round in 12 months today, works golf day
Playing off 22 and carded 40 points with 3 blobs
Driving was just ridiculous, had 40 yards left to the green on a 400 yard par 4. Was on the fringe on two 300+ par 4. But like usual, it was my stty short game that let me down. I can remember 4 four putts without even trying to think. Had a run of 6 pars in a row at the start of back 9 though
Made me realise I've missed it but I just know if I was to start playing regularly again I would let the fun aspect disappear and the seriousness/stress of not improving would ruin it. Think I will stick to a few rounds a year

I'm not the best judge as I tend to stick to a showerproof and a brolly, but I see a lot of Galvin Green kicking about these days if you fancy a fair investment.
I don't expect that ProQuip have forgotten how to make waterproofs in a couple of years mind
That's exactly what I'm after mate. Don't like the full on waterproofs as they tend to restrict you a bit and make shed loads of noise ( or they used to ) + if it rains that much they all leak anyway in my experience.
