What an awful attempt at a catch by that fellow in Row Z hehe

Theres not a better sight in cricket than KP dominating a bowling attack

yes

Cook will go on to dominate the English record books for generations if you ask me. Blessed with an early start, he is still young and is accumulating runs at a frightening rate in all forms of the game. I can see him getting up to Ponting's level.

Clearly he is the next test captain, but how soon, not sure Strauss will survive another poor series with the bat. Trott to open and Bairstow comes in?

Cook was on the brink of being the first Captain to ever score three consecutive centuries in innings, hence my disappointment.

what a strange tour. Englad lose the test series 3-0 whitewash, then hit the ODI series 3-0 up. All against a suubie team on foreign fields and with Cook not scoring in the tests and becomming a run machine in the ODIs.

How weird.

England will win the ODI series 5-0, no doubt.
I suspect that a 5-0 whitewash might be somewhat difficult, even with the way Cook is playing.
Being a 4 match series 5-0 could be a bit of a challenge even for the most one eyed of supporters.rolleyes

I'd say the scale of the loss yesterday could count as 2 matches, such was the hammering given wink ..... but for you Mr Pedant, it'll be 4-0, better?

This one day series really couldn't be going any better for England. Cook and Finn and world class at the moment. KP back in form and even the likes of Bopara, and Patel are chipping in well with runs and wickets. Get Morgan back in form and sort out the wicket keeping problem (don't rate Keiswetter) and its a very very good team.

Pakistan have been terrible though. They seem to lack the batsmen up the order to set a platform and score quickly. And for the first time in ages, their seamers are just terrible.

The seamers have been terrible for a while now. They've relied on the spinners to take wickets over the past few months. It is a sad day when an average 31 year old bowler is called up, instead of the many young bowlers who have much talent. It was a mistake to drop Junaid Khan, who can actually do a bit with the ball and can bowl at the death, it was a huge mistake to drop Abdul Razzaq and Naved-ul-Hasan Rana who can bat and bowl line and length on slow pitches. Moreover the youngsters like Mohammed Talha should have been given a chance. There's much too much pressure on Gul, who is a decent bowler but not a true destroyer, and he can lose control as he did yesterday. My other issue is with the coaching of these players. They made too many elementary mistakes. If they appoint Dav Whatmore as their coach, it'll be interesting to see if he can make them play with more discipline, as he did with the Sri Lankans.

968 is right, and indeed every Pakistan follower knows it.

I sat close to the boundary at the last game and enjoyed listening to a group of Pakistan supporters next to me barracking a series of Pak fielders. The general gist was get Imran Farhat out of the side, and more than one Pak fielder turned round to give the supporters an embarrassed nod or a smile.

It is an open secret that Farhat is in because his father in law is the chief selector. The entire selection process is a farce.

He's out today, but actually he hasn't been that bad this series. The worst offenders with the bat, in my view have been Misbah and Younis who have given their wickets away needlessly. They are the key men who need to hang around for the whole innings to create a decent score.

Added to that, the bowling is woeful. No discipline and like England of the past, too boring and stereotypical, with no variation, though now it's 4 spinners instead of Englands 4 medium pace line and length bowlers. Today, to highlight the problems with the squad sees Junaid Khan back as the ONLY seamer in the team (he's young and inexperienced) and the once again inexplicable selection of Shoaib Malik, the worst and most useless cricketer in the world today, who can't bat and can barely bowl.

They have made a good start so far, but it won't be enough as they won't dismiss Cook, before he's made 50 at least.

Decent start by the Pakistanis here. Hopefully they'll score 260+ so we see a competitive chase.

Pakistan only have one seamer today so I guess they think the pitch will turn lots which will make the chase very tough.

I really should have gotten off my @rse for the 1 day matches as the Dubai Stadium is 10 minutes walk from my appartment(can see the stadium from the kitchen window).

Why not wander down and watch England bat?! It's not like the stadium is sold out.
