They should be playing this in India.
Would the Pakistanis really want to play their home games in India?

Early declaration scratchchin

I'll stick my neck out. England to reply with 700/3, then knock Pakistan over for 150 on the final day.

Innings victory.

You all know how I love a good stat.

"Moeen Ali is the first England player to open in the first innings of a Test who hasn't opened before"

Quality stat that yes

Only another 267 needed to avoid the follow on, so we should be past that at about tea time tomorrow.

That must be a record low for attendance, looks like there are more press than spectators.
Unfortunate but it's better than having to play in Jihadabad. I thought there were more expats in the UAE? perhaps all the matches should be played in Dubai where all the action is?
There are over a million Pakistanis in the UAE however the test matches there always have poor attendances. They generally turn out for the limited overs stuff though.

Tbh with pitches like this who can blame them - there is no pace at all.

Rashid has worst figures on Test debut
A horror of a debut. He doesn't look like a test match bowler at all. Bowls too slow and bowls far too many loose deliveries. Even Samit Patel would have been better than Rashid - at least he would keep it tight and help to build some pressure.

England desperately need a proper spinner in the team. Playing with all rounders like Ali/Rashid/Patel just won't cut it especially when playing in Asia.

I truly love cricket & especially England Cricket, but i won't watch any of this series, no interest whatsoever for me.

I'll keep an eye on the score & that's all

Well day 3 of the 1st & this will probably go down as one of the dullest series in Test match history.

Good to see our specialist stroke player cracking along with 1 run from 27 balls.

Not all bad news though, can't remember the last time our opening pair posted 100 - 0, so that is progress.

On a loosely related note:

Andrew Samson on TMS said:
Since 1984, England have had 57 opening partnerships but only three of them have put on 100 in their first innings together - the other two are Marcus Trescothick and Andrew Strauss and Michael Atherton and Alec Stewart.

I miss Banger, just a top quality lad.

Not bad company for Moeen, but until he has opened in Durham in May, then I am reserving judgement...

Repost record that, must be ?

Anyway - Well played Skip, the book says 100, and that is well played on any pitch, against any attack in my mind.

How many Centuries for Chef now ? is it 30 yet.
