No, not really. Black Tips and White Tips are pretty harmless. The ones I've found to be on the nippy side are the Reef sharks. Darting around at low level, they don't look and they don't think. Just taste.

The real buggers are the Tigers. They really don't give a fk.

I've had a parrotfish chase me, and my wife has had an anemonefish (clownfish) come 6 feet out of its anemone to square off.

Oh, and we had a bunch of barracuda stalking us on a night dive off Koh Phi Phi - every time you shone a torch in their direction, they did their best 'we're not following you, nothing to see here' faces.

Fish are rubbish at that.

Night dive on Wednesday and a large Moray decided we were not welcome. Angry looking bar stewards when they rear up.

I need a back up dive light, any suggestions?

The Aquatec Aquastar 5 does the job for me: http://www.divelife.co.uk/scuba-manufacturers/Aqua...

There is a smaller model too that is okay: http://www.divelife.co.uk/scuba-manufacturers/Aqua...

I'm using an ND Mini Quest as a backup, works quite nicely and is really compact. 230 Lumens and 45 quid isn't too shabby.

I'm currently in Stromness diving Scapa. We're on the MV Invincible, and I have to say it is an awesome boat. The bloody rebreather managed two days of diving until the brand new cells replaced under warranty packed in! Fortunately I brought some OC kit too, so I have done some great diving. I'll post some pictures when I get home.

PADI Divemaster here :waves:

I've dived all over, I did my DM course in S.E Asia in '09 and went wherever there was work or offers of free food wink

Living in the east midlands now and dive as much as I can in the UK, usually Stoney is my "go-to" place to get a fix if I'm feeling withdrawal symptoms.

I'm usually the twunt who is freezing my balls off on the 2nd dive in my 7mm semi dry..... which reminds me..... need to get a dry suit spec. sorted ASAP! smile

Anyone go to Stoney regularly?

Finally, here's a picture of when I was working on a live-aboard in the Similans smile

There is no need to do a drysuit spec. I have never been asked to show one to dive at any UK inland site or dive boat, or when purchasing a suit. If you know a competent buddy who is experienced in diving in a drysuit, a couple of shallow bimbles under their watchful eye should be enough to get used to it without lining PADI's pockets. This may not be the case if you try to hire a suit though.

True... I hate how PADI tries to charge for everything! mad

Unfortunately I don't have a buddy and usually just insta-buddy or solo dive, although I have just managed to talk my step-dad into doing his OW... woohoo I may have a buddy!

I think I'll just fork out the £50.00 (?????) for the spec and then I am covered if I decide I'm too much of a fanny for the 7mm SD suit.

Might be a long shot but I may as well ask, I am thinking of retiring my pretty tired buddy commando BCD and looking to move to a rear inflate or even wing/ back plate setup for single cylinder.

Anyone have a serviceable wing and b/p or rear inflate (wing style) BCD that is gathering dust and would be willing to sell?

Hi,
Another TVR owning diver here.
Can't help you with a single tank wing for sale. But suggest you look at the OMS doughnut style wing for a single tank set up which can then be upgraded for more lift if you need that later.

When I bought my halcyon rig I managed to negotiate a good price for a 2 layer 7mm semi dry, so 14mm all together...... Very toasty and I was perfectly comfortable.... Come October I may start looking at dry suits but I just hate the idea of being detached from the water......
