Yes.
A 682 Gold E adj stock and 'Jones' plate.
Just aquired it.
Really pleased so far.
Even If it's 32" plus the extended chokes. Big bat!

I had a 686 but couldnt get it to fit.
That's why I buy them with adjustable stocks.
The Miroku is an MK6000 30" barrel
Adj stock and teague chokes.
Heavy brute.

Richard, I'm just down the road from you in Louth and know of a few clubs locally. Let me know when/if you want to go for a few shoots and you are more than welcome to join me. I shoot clays, badly.

There are a few shops locally. Wraby, Woodhall Spa, Skegness are the ones I use - I'm not aware of any within Grimsby though. Wragby would be my pick of them as they offer excellent service and is a nice, family run place.

I'd recommend getting down to a club, trying it out and getting signed up though. Get your license as soon as you can though!

Oxford Gun company can't be too far away from you. I shoot there pretty regularly and I know they do half hour tasters for about 20 quid inc clays and cartridges. Its a good way to get a feel for it without going for a full on lesson.

I've just got back from my 2nd time shooting clays and am just after a few tips. The problem I'm having is keeing my eye open. I shoot right handed with my left eye closed but after a few shots I struggle to keep my right eye open, it just wants to stay closed. I have just tried some glasses with tape over my left eye but it didnt really change. I keep my left eye closed the full time I'm shooting, maybe just closing it when I'm ready to aim may help?

Which is your dominant eye?

When I point my finger at an object in the distance and close my right eye, my finger stays on the object. When I close my left eye it seems my finger is to the left of the object.
Keeping both open makes me feel like my eyes are straining alot and I struggle to focus.

If I understand that right, you are left eye dominant, but shooting off the right shoulder.

If that is the case, then the best advice I can give is to go and see a pro instructor.

Keeping both eyes open, as per the post above, is not going to do you any good at all.

Thread revival!!

So I went shooting at the weekend and really rather enjoyed it. I've been looking for a new hobby and think this may suit me nicely - also I was awesome at it.... wink

I've read the very informative post on page 1 of this thread but just wanted to ask; if you buy a gun how do you transport it to your local club? I'm assuming you can't just sling it on the back seat! Or do people just leave them at the club?

I live in the city, is being given a permit a formality, or do you need to 'prove' you are suitable etc?

you have a right to a SGC, as long as your not mental it's ok.

chuck the gun in the boot. if I'm walking around town or on the tube I'll put it in a carry case.

Thanks z4RRSchris,

I'm now reading up a lot on guns and obviously would opt for an an all rounder so I can shoot clays and game if the opportunity arises.

Any tips on what sort of thing I should be looking at? The Browning 525 comes up a lot but to my untrained eye looks a little errrm... plain.

browning 525, mik, beretta SP 686, all good guns. get one that fits and feels comfortable is more important than pretty patterns.

if your in London I'm happy to take you out before you get your SGC. can go most places but not Bisley.

my one gun from page 1 has somehow multiplied into 5, must be breeding in the safe

Well that's a jolly nice offer, thank you very much!

However, I live down the M4 in Bristol. I do head into The City for meetings but normally in and out without time for recreation.

Perhaps in the mean time I can continue to pop in here and glean more of your expertise. I was pondering what you said about a gun that "fits", is a gun club the place to do that or would you just stroll into a retailer and get 'sized up'?

Going to book a lesson here to make sure I'm getting the basics right...
