What's people's opinion on this? Just been having a debate at work about it!

Although I'm not a Trump fan, I actually agree with him & was interested to hear other people's thoughts....other than my mate at work who doesn't seem to understand the difference between a century break & a 147!
At the time I thought he should have congratulated Robertson. Bad sportsmanship IMO.

There's some damage limitation in that article. Still smacks of sour grapes though.

That was part of my argument, the fact they play so many more tournaments now. Make's you appreciate Hendry's number of centuries even more.

Also agree about the sour grapes, bad time for Trump to be making those comments.

I disagreed with Robertson implying it's more of an achievement than a 147. Each to their own I suppose & Robertson's 100 100's is obviously great but some players don't seem too bothered about century breaks once the frame is won (Mark Williams springs to mind) but you see maximum concentration if there's a chance of a 147.

I thought Robertson's celebrations were way over the top but Judd should have at least shaken his hand or said a word or two to Neil.

I don't see the big deal about the number of centuries per season. Tournament wins and even 147s yes, but number of 100s? Sorry but this isn't cricket we're talking about.

Dramatic last couple of frames in the Robertson / Trump match too. Robertson headed straight for the commentary box after the match to complain about something; I think they said something that made the audience laugh on a shot?
Something about a joke at 7-6? They quickly cut the sound off. Great comeback by robertson.
O sullivan Roberson final?
Terry Griffiths said "if he clears up from here, they'll give him the freedom of Sheffield". Each person lightly mumbles a laugh. A whole audience doing that (baring in mind that it's a silent venue for the players, with a random laugh coming out) is really off putting. It was just as he was getting down to a difficult shot as well.

I've been to some snooker matches (once at crucible, twice at old Wembley Arena) and the commentary ear pieces are invaluable. It's fairly dull, I find, without the commentary. Try muting your tv to see! However, I think the commentators making jokes is bad (it happens regularly, just not at such important times) and hopefully they'll learn from it.

I couldn't agree more!

I don't see why century breaks in a season suddenly became important, it is impressive.
The increase in statistics is getting silly in all sports, shot times, strokes in a rally.. meaningless really.

If you look at the all time lists for both centuries and 147s nearly all of the greats are in the top echelons, even those that didn't seem that bothered by tons. So definitely a correlation between centuries and ability.

Agreed that in the ultra modern era of multiple tournaments aments this may become somewhat skewed.

Anyone brave enough to offer a prediction on the Selby Robertson match?

I think it will be attritional and the winner won't have much left in the tank for O Sullivan.....

13-12 Selby. I think they're very evenly matched right now in terms of consistancy. Don't really like Robertson's nature although you can't deny his talent. Would love to see a Selby v O'Sullivan final, I think Selby's play can really upset Ronnie. Can Ronnie beat Hawkins?..

Would like to know how many frames he had played to get 100 hundreds. To win the WC you would have to win about 70 frames I think. If you are a decent player (ie world number one), surely you get a ton every ten frames at least

71 frames to win. Hendry holds the record of 16 centuries during the world championships.

Is robertson chewing gum or is that a nervous tic?

It's certainly looking that way so far. Ronnie will be hoping this continues.

Ronnie opens up huge lead on Saturday in the final.
