Steve Davies just announced his retirement from playing, should have done it a while ago, but still had a 38 year playing career

Arguably the greatest player ever and a thoroughly nice bloke as well. Oddly I really disliked him in his prime.

What a century by Martin Gould. Some great shots, and a little bit of luck.

Parrott and Hendry were OK commentating last night. Some really nervous play and amazing shots (and flukes) in the last few frames between Perry and Wilson.

Hendry's brutal. He quite often says 'well that's game over' or similar with more than a session left. You can sense BBC producers shuddering when he says stuff like that.

The cheesy intro's/nicknames/theme songs for the players are terrible.

As per, I'm totally at odds with PH here. I love the commentary.

Was it Parrot talking about his old friend 'The Sniffer'? So lame. So funny.

Always hated Hendry for being an arrogant tosspot that won everything, but since listening to him during the commentary, I really like the bloke. Seems like a deeply practical, nice guy.

Yep, that odd prune fellow thinking he's in a boxing ring, "LETS GET READY TO RUM... Snooker.."

I think he's on Eurosport now. Some very good commentators there, Joe Johnson among them.

Virgo is a bit more bearable with Steve in the copilot seat.

Neil Foulds is on ITV 4.

Something not quite right about his face looks as though he's had a face lift.!

I think Hendry's great as a commentator, really says it like it is , not afraid to criticize the players and/or shot selection, unlike the others.

Dennis Taylor was taken into hospital for a emergency appendectomy and is now recovering.

I quite like all the commentators even Thorne (just) but what really riles me is when they go overboard with praise on the one we know on here as 'the cheating tt'.

Would like to see Fu take the title, but don't realistically think he can.

What the hell happened to him in the Masters, it was as though he wasn't well.
