Lol,unless there's a history of heart disease in the family you'll be OK.If there is then get checked.Anyway, and I don't mean anything by this, but those unfortunates who died because of undiagnosed heart disease well,...y'know...they were doing proper exercise. wink
Hey, I get slightly breathless wink
They may well have been doing proper exercise but should we risk it if it may also affect those doing improper exercise?
*sigh*

Entirely possible this happens a lot more than people realise. It's getting reported at the moment though precisely because of the deaths you mention. In a few weeks/months normal service will resume.
Indeed.

Whilst medical science has made huge advances the reality is that they still don't know why a lot of these things happen.....largely because a lot of the people who die as a result of this have never been monitored and they have no idea what actually happened in the build up. A mate of mine had a similar incident to Fabrice Muamba but was "only" dead for twenty minutes about four years ago...he now has an ICD (like a pacemaker but a defribrilator) which has kick started two or three times since and records every heartbeat....despite having all this data over four years they still don't 100% know what's wrong with my mate who was fit as a fiddle until his late thirties.

Just found this out like 2 minutes ago. fking shocked to say the least....

Been a competitive swimmer all my life, done the training, trained hard, trained 20 hours a week, 60km a week... the lot. Never got as good as the likes of this guy but can tell you you have to be seriously fit to swim at that level. Its other worldly. Knowing how strong these guys cardio systems are its a shock and a half.... but maybes thats it, over worked. Especially as its reported he was doing some altitude training (tried that myself, its bloody hard work!)

Looks like Kitajima will be missing out on a duel with this guy in the 100m this summer which is a massive shame.

Alexander Dale Oen:

World 100m breast champ, Olympic silver, fastest man over 100m in a textile (read normal) swim suit. What a great loss to the sport. R.I.P.

Happens to the best of people doesn't it. A friend of mine is literally Mr sportsman. Rugby, rowing, gymnastics, swimming, surf lifesaving and now cycling. Mastered most of them (bar swimming, too heavy for that really) and always does well, reaches a good level very quickly. Doesn't drink much, etc etc... definition of fitness. Yet, he's had cancer twice! once in his nads, then again in the lymph nodes. Caught early both times though I think and no doubt his sheer strength helped.
