Noticable these days how Jimmy has throttled back and soo much control has come to him. Exactly what MM, Holding, Ambrose and Walsh all said.

He used to nudge it over 90mph, now solid at 85mph.

5th wicket down. WIndies were starting to look like being rather more of a challenge than England had expected....

Personally I'm glad, cricket needs a decent WI side. Although I hated the 80's (and us getting rolled over consistently) my god they were awesome to watch !

I'm reasonably happy, however if you put a team into bat then you need to bowl them out in a day and although we've come close that hasn't happened. Congrats to Broad for picking up another Michelle.

We've played well enough and I'm glad that the WIndies have put up some fight. The proof will come when we see what England's first innings lead is. I'll rashly predict 200 after we pick up the last wicket in the first couple of overs of tomorrow and bat until halfway through Saturday.

You need to bowl them out for under 300....sure weather might come into play in this test but get a side out for under 300 and it's a job well done.

It's been a good day for England.

Looking forward to seeing the Windies bowl...apparently there's some genuine pace in their attack.

Anyone know how badly injured Tremlett is ? Bresnan is quality but I think Tremlett would have a great time against this lot.

Good day I think.

Ok we didn't bowl them out which is annoying. But we must get that last wicket within 30 minutes tomorow fo it not to matter. Kept them well under 100 a session, which is a great start in terms of runs

bresnan was steady enough, but he is a steamer and it didn't seam. Also I didn't think we bowled enough right up their noses... we have nearly twenty years of payback to get in. a few body blows should be de rigour for any WI batter.

anyway pretty decent day, Chandeaul looks formidable.

True but this England attack is nowhere near quick enough to do that. Finn is the only bowler that could really do that with his height and pace. Jimmy and Broad have the mongrel but not the pace...you need to be bowling more like 95 mph to really, really hurry and hurt a batsman.

Skies are a clearer than yesterday here in NW8, but it's still a bit fresh so it should still swing today.

Well that is as good as bowled out in a day isn't it?

Laid Windies to score 300 before start of play yesterday so very happy with that biggrin

Can't see TV coverage but from what I can see on BBC website sounds like Cook is a bit at sixes and sevens.

First ball and 7 for 72 for Broad.

Is that a first for Broad? (7 wickets in an innings)

40 from overs, is this normal service resumed? Decent track, no wretched left arm spinning dobblers.
