Is anyone else thinking about going tomorrow?
Prices due to be announced by the MCC at 3pm
Gates open at 9am. Thinking about popping along. What time do people start queuing? Lots of articles online about them for the India match last year starting at 2am...Prices due to be announced by the MCC at 3pm
I'm aiming at getting there around 11ish, pick up some lunch from the shop across the road from Panzer's Deli so I've got plenty of good food, a copy of the telegraph and some good weather. Hopefully we'll end up seeing some decent cricket but it would take several miracles for England to get a result from here.
Shamelessly stolen from the BBC,
Right then, here's the list of successful fourth-innings chases bigger than this one - 418 (West Indies v Australia, Antigua, 2003); 414 (SA v Australia, Perth, 2008); 406 (India v WI, Trinidad, 1976); 404 (Australia v England, Headingley, 1948); 387 (India v England, Chennai, 2008); 369 (Australia v Pakistan, Hobart, 1999); 362 (Australia v WI, Guyana, 1978); 352 (Sri Lanka v SA, Colombo, 2006); 348 (WI v NZ, Auckland, 1969). Not forgetting India making 347 in the tied Test against Australia at Chennai in 1986.
So to win we'd end up with the 11th highest successful run chase in test history and the highest ever at Lords which isn't a high scoring ground.
Just back home from Lords.
What a fun day it was. only a naive child thought at the start of the day that we had any hope of chasing that down, and fortunately there were 10,000 naive English children in adult bodies cheering away. Some excellent bowling in the gloom in the first session with a lot of movement of the pitch and in the air.
If we'd hung on to a couple of catches earlier or. ...
if Skip and Chef had scored a few or ...
if Taylor hadn't been run out going for a fourth
however the sun came out in the afternoon, the crowd lined up, Swann, Broad, Bairstow and Prior all entertained and gave the crowd a lot of entertainment.
We've not done the basics well this series, or in the sand through the winter. Hopefully the closeness of that final game and the fresh blood in the dressing room will be enough to get the engine firing on all cylinders again.

Shame.Great player IMO.
Sadly a little hot heated, although I think the ECB failed to help KP and stop the whole thing from getting out of hand.

Agreed. However, my point is you could see it coming. The ECB should have realised this and dealt with it accordingly - when they had the chance. Failure to do so is poor management.
We've no idea what has and hasn't been happening, except that it hasn't ended well. I suspect that the ECB should take some of the blame, but it may be only a few percent.Gassing Station | Sports | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
