Not a fan. He seems to have bypassed the 'personality queue' completely.

I miss the days when this country got behind a true giant of the game! Off the scale excitement for.....TigerTim!!

Ah..the halcyon days of 'Henmania'

That...Mr Murray, was how it was done!

"looses off" a series of aces? Or were you continuing in the same anti- Murray vein?

I've tried to avoid coming back to this line of thought, but he makes it's pretty difficult.

Think I'd rather watch the likes of Tim lose a semi-final than Murray win one.

The time when we finally get a British player in the final and we all want him to lose.

Typical.

Some English people don't like him because he's Scottish.

It's just chippy xenophobia

"but he said that anyone but England thing innit"

It was a joke you retards.

This is unbelievable. On what basis do you say this? Because he doesn't bother to play the media game? Do you know tha man personally to make such a judgement? If he was a nice, home counties boy like Tim, would you say such a thing?

"the likes of Tim".. give yourself peace. The man was far too nice to win. I'd much rather watch an arrogant winner than a nice loser. If Murray wins on Sunday, which I hope he does, but suspect he won't, then judge him then on how much he cares. He would be an emotional wreck.

What he said. I was near the pinnacle of my chosen sport a fair few years ago. Whilst its a far cry from Wimbledon, the same principles apply. Unless you are naturally gifted (a la Federer), you have to grind your way to the top. That single minded focus and absolute determination to win can come across as arrogance to some people.

Murray isnt showing any emotion, as he knows that he hasn't got the job done yet, so is remaining focused on the task in hand.

I would rather see him in this emotionless state on the court than his normal way of communicating a negative psychological state through straining and wincing at various pulls and strains that he's picked up. I think Lendl is working hard on the psychology of his game, as that's one of the key areas where he's been slightly weaker over the past few years. This emotionless state is rather akin to a poker face, which gives the opponent nothing to feed off.

Roll on Andy, I say!!!

People have short memories if they think only Andy Murray has had a personality bypass on court.

Borg?
Sampras?
Edberg?
Federer?

The days of a player whooping and a hollerin' his way to the trophy, whilst muttering curses under his breath and sometimes out aloud, are long gone.

It's a shame, because I liked McEnroe, Connors and others because of this.

Anyway, I digress, come on Andy!

Only because Nadal's out.
You know why Nadal's out, yes? Because he lost! That's how tennis works. Murray has beaten everyone in the bottom half of the draw, something Nadal couldn't manage!
Haha oh shut up.Murray's going to get his miserably taciturn Scottish arse kicked and I for one will be happy to not have to see pictures of the clown and his entourage all over the press and TV for another year.

Go on Federer!
Federer, the same smug cock who, whenever he loses, is not gracious, makes excuses about why he lost, crys and never gives his opponent any credit. He's a great player, but I'll be cheering on Murray!

Did anyone else get the impression that he was trying to look like he was sort of crying after winning yesterday, but in reality wasn't at all?

Its a shame because he's obviously quite a poker face guy, but even during games it seems he tries to show false emotion to please the wittering nobs who complain about him being a dour scot, which is a bit naff.

His manufactured mannerisms include pointing to the sky in joy,a la Messi,as if thanking God for his sublime talent. What a prat.(I think Messi's a prat as well.)
It looks so false,as if some PR berk has said 'now what can we do to make Murray appeal to the common man more?'

I meant it was a bit naff that he had been forced down the road of trying to be 'charismatic' which just isn't him. Thats the naff bit imo.

In general I think he's an alright guy, just utterly scared of being judged negatively when he opens up and so acts all dour and arrogant and closed off. I think that beneath it all he is pretty scared and defensive - probably because of his ruthless mum and various pressures to achieve, although I don't want to get all Freudian.
