It would be nice if our football players actually sung the fking national anthem though. I'm not patriotic in the slightest, but sitting here watching them stand mute makes me wonder why they're bothering..
Annoys me immensely. So much so I wouldn't pick anyone who does not sing it as a point of principle.
I suppose I could be labelled as hypocrite thinking that people should be shouting the national anthem when I'm not the least bothered about patriotism. I just can't help but feel angry that these people are given the opportunity to play for their country, which clearly is an important part of their career and something they want to do, and when it comes to singing a brief national anthem, they just stand there staring out into the crowd.

It's especially embarassing when the whole of Senegal's team have stood and sung proudly before us.

Maybe they are all Republican atheists. How does a song about god saving the queen make you patriotic? It's just another thing for people to moan about.

They don't seem to realise that they're there representing GB. One of the women in the ladies GB football team did the same & said she wouldn't sing the national anthem as she's a Scottish Nationalist - here's a novel idea, if you're not proud to be a part of the GB team then don't BE a part of the GB team.

as if st like this is still going on.

She does look a little more round, but that's neither here nor there really. I don't think she's ever been like some of the others who are ripped/chisel'd its just how she is. If you want fat go check out Geoff Huegill, before his comeback he was a chubby so and so. He's lost a lot of it, but he is still very thick set. He doesn't look like a typical lean swimmer. Doesn't stop him being a complete beast at fly though.

For swimming at least I don't think it matters all that much if you have a bit of body fat. Arguably in the right places it could be beneficial. Its more weight/more inertia to overcome, but it could help in keeping the body higher in the water. That is what those body suits did (hence they were banned) not only did they keep the body core tight (so you didnt have to put quite so much effort in yourself) they also added buoyancy, which keeps the hips and legs up in the water. Soon as the hips drop, you're fighting a losing battle with resistance.

Also see Felipe Silva, won the 50 breast at last year's World Champs - he's thick set and got what some would term a beer gut, but still bloody quick.
