I love the olympics. I love seeing the best in the world do what they do and continually doing what, to a mere mortal, seems impossible.

The Paralympics however just does nothing for me. It's a bit like loving premier league football but not being interested in the lower divisions.
Show me anyone who's better at what they do than Richard Whitehead, Tatyana McFadden, Grigorios Polychronidis…

Dunno if you're into boxing (I ain't), but in principle - is it only the heavyweights that're worth watching?

I don't think a lot of people really care about it tbh.
I was looking forward to it. I remember enjoying it last time.
Me too. Loved it last time and looking forward to it.

However, it's looking ominously like they are going to fk it up.

I hope not.

I hope not aswell. The athletes don't deserve it and it will set the paralympics back if it becomes a fiasco frown

Guess we view this differently. Nothing wrong with that.

London viewing figures for the paralympics were a fraction of the olympics, despite being a record - as an example, I think the opening ceremony was about 25% of the bigger event's. And this where we pretty much had our act together and the paralympics were pushed quite hard.

Many of the stadia had large amounts of empty seats for the olympics. I wouldn't bet on thrilling audiences at the paralympics as a result, even if they hadn't messed up.

Brazilians just don't seem that into this type of sport (able bodied or otherwise). And I suspect that average prices compared to wages will be high.

Never really understood the Paralympics or sure if it's a good thing. Seems just about can qualify as disabled and the winners are generally least disable person in any event.

Can't help thinking that they ought to insist on the Paralympics being scheduled before the Olympics.

Channel Four's coverage of London was a real problem for me too. Far too much studio time and not enough event coverage.

Can't see that making a difference whatsoever...unless the organisers were threatened with losing the main games.

Won't be watching the Paralympics, nor will anyone I know. I feel the 'standard' Olympics is overload enough, and can't see any reason to watch another less entertaining version a few weeks later.

I'm looking forward to the Paralympics, seems s longer gap between the two than in London though?

Pretty much exactly the same, it's fairly standardised.

It's not as complex as it looks at first glance, if you want a bit of explaining give us a shout, I'd be happy to have a go at least. thumbup
