I thought I would start one.

what do we think?

hard to call for me. Lots of players have shown some form over the last few weeks, the last two rounds of the Deustche Bank last weekend saw some really terrific golf.

Ominously Woods and big Phil showing form.

Home advantage probably counts for two points but 4 rookies in the US team V 1 for europe (who won the world matchplay this year) I think just tips it back towards Europe, but europe have a few guys off form too...

Very tough to call on a long course...

Thoughts?

On paper its probably the strongest US team since 79. Plenty of shrewd judges I know are setting their hearts on a comfortable US victory. Personally I think they'll pinch it but only just. After that it could easily be another 10 years before we win it again. Current and up and coming crop of US players look very strong.

always tough to win over there, granted it will probably end up close.

Europes' players aren't all on form which is worrying.

i just hope it is a great sporting event and not runied by moronic spectators shouting "get in the hole" every 15 seconds...tossers

Come on then, only a few days to go now.

Are we going to give the septics a golfing lesson in thier own back yard?

I think it is going to be very close and as much as I would love Europe to win I think the Yanks will pull it off.

Well, it is now almost upon us - the final tourney before the RC finished last night with Snedecker (his name sounds like a pharmaceutical product to me - "could I have a box of Snedex please?") taking the tour championship and fedex cup.

as an aside, for all the cash at stake I thought the golf this weekend wasnt that great, the preceeding two fedex cup tournamnets were a much higher standard imho...

something to do with the format of the tour championship perhaps and teh final fedex cup rankings?

any how, all on now for Medinah, I'll be taking friday pm off and I'll be pretty much glued all weekend.

On current form the Yanks should give Europe a pasting, however the Ryder Cup does seem to raise the level of the Europeans game some what, also most of the team didnt play in the fedex events so may well be more refreshed

Poulter to sink the winning putt!!!!

Yeah, I agreee with you on the standard of golf at this year's tour championship. The last two years (last year in particular) was rather special though tbh so it did have a lot to live up to. Snedeker is a solid player and a player who has the right attitude for the game. He may discuss the shot for a little too long beforehand on occasion but when he moves in to take the shot it is normally just one little waggle..and bang the ball is gone (none of this Dufner 'club rythmic gymnastics' rubbish or Keegan Bradley/Kevin Na backing away from shots all the time!!)

With regards to this year's Ryder Cup I believe the US will edge it. The fact that they have the home crowd, but mainly the fact that they can set the course up to their liking. The fairways will be wide, the rough won't be too severe to help their bombers off the tee. Also I feel it could be won and lost on the greens - the greens on the PGA tour are significantly quicker than on the European tour and whilst the majority of the European team play on the US Tour and the fact that I believe it will be close, a deciding factor could be the likes of likes of Molinari, Colsaerts, Lawrie, Kaymer and Hanson not adapting quickly enough to the speed of the greens.

Despite my feelings that the European team may struggle it will still be a spectacular event and I for won will be watching every minute of it!! (I have booked Friday and even Monday off work!)

Its gonna be such a huge event. The American crowd will certainly make their presence felt which should make it all the more entertaining smile

Westwood in worryingly average form at the weekend! U.S. by 1 point or less!

Unfortunately it’s a team game for 12 players not 3, on current form Westwood is a shadow of the player he was 3 months ago, Donald hasn’t been as consistent as previously, and Rory, hopefully he will take his A game, but I think he has played too much golf lately like most of the Americans

I'd like to think the impact of the crowd will be limited to some extent by the fact that many of our guys are either US based or have big tournament experience in the states, they will still be a big factor though.

I'm most excited at some of the potential matches, particularly hoping for one of the US long hitters to come up against Colsaerts who is quite frankly a monster!

IMHO we're going to get a pasting in the singles so may well need 4-5 points advantage going into it.

Fingers crossed

I like how the Americans are saying that the crowd will be 'vocal'. Their idea of vocal is completely different to ours. I am expecting cries of 'Get in the hole!' with every American shot off the tee and some heckling towards the Europeans which we will be told is light hearted banter.
I hope the crowds do act in a sporting manner and the tournament is played in a sporting way.

I really hope the crowds are as respectful to the european team as ours were to the americans at celtic manor.

big phil said as much two years ago..

all this "get in the hole" bks is getting very very annoying.

I'm not sure I like the commetns this morning like "bash their brains in"

golf is supposedly one of the few gentlemanly sports still out there imho - shuold keep it that way.

the more i see, the more I'm adging towards the US - I think home advantage is worth 2 points - we don't have that on them - but you just never know.

I wanted friday off too...bugger
