To put the blame solely on the shoulders of Stokes is a bit ridiculous. He has been great all World Cup and just fell short in the last over. We never put enough runs on the board, and with the class of WI batting it was always going to be tough.

Root got 2 people out in one over bowling dollies that nearly went for 2 sixes, and Stokes bowls a fraction out and gets launched for 4 sixes. Root is a hero and Stokes is not when it could have been so different. Thats the nature of T20 cricket.

Its a shame we lost, but we have played some fantastic cricket, have some great talent and should be very proud of ourselves.

100% agree. We have played some fantastic cricket AND achieved some great results. The run chase vs SA was an immense achievement. Players and supporters should feel proud. I know I do.

After the first match I thought getting out of the group stages would be one heck of an achievement but getting to the finals was immense. No complaints from me in the end

Was out all day yesterday with the young 'uns. Vaguely followed England's score, though we were goners at one stage but still scraped a total we could have a stab at defending, surprisingly.

I got home and there was 8 balls left in the match. Missed the first two of these faffing about with kiddy stuff, so only really tuned in to the last over. That's all I saw. With 19 to get I thought the odds were in our favour... oh dear.

I can only shoulder responsibility for the defeat myself. Maybe if I hadn't have watched we'd have won the game.

Poor Ben Stokes. For this to happen to such a quiet, humble cricketer is a shame. I'd rather this sort of professional disaster on a world stage happen to a cocky loudmouth to teach them a bit of humility.

Entertaining match for the neutrals.

Seems like neither your team or our team won it. 2nd best is as good as last mate.

Personally, think it is good for cricket that there are different teams playing well. Eng played well. Not quite well enough to win it.

Stokes will bounce back as if it didn't happen anyway.
