Or are you considering?

I'm toying with handball and swimming. I suppose I could do it at the same time and call it water polo. But I quite like the idea of handball seeing as I can't kick a ball accurately to save my life.

Gymnastics is another one but I've kinda already been mucking about with moves at home and there's nowhere for an old git to train.

I already played badminton but the Olympics have really started people playing so I've been involved in running a social tournament and doing a bit of coaching.

That's great to hear (no sarcasm). How big was your club before and how many members does it have now?

It's not the club that I play for as we're a premier division team but I was asked to get involved as they wanted more 'young people' to get involved in the running and organisation - recently ran a really well attended tournament which fed the beginners into another local club lower down the league which has meant there isn't enough court space at club nights anymore. More needed!

We've seen a significant number of new swimmers since the Olympics at my club, both in the beginners/junior squads and my old farts group. Probably due to the fact that we reckon we could do better than we did in the pool in London! wink

That site's quite impressive. The handball one is painful although it's improved since the Olympics. I wonder if they've missed a trick. My local club's site is a link to PDFs.

Badminton England have really gone all out and most of the no strings are franchise type deals with local coaches who run them on their behalf and in conjunction with county set ups.

It's one of those sports that I think you don't really realise how fun it is until you play it.

I used to play it (I have two rackets) but I like to try different things. I'm rubbish, really. hehe

Since watching all the olympic sports on tv I've found myself mainly wanting to watch more tv - but sport free channels.

I have been cycling a lot more, although this gradually increased throughout the year, can't really say it was down to the olympics. My running has also been picking up throughout the year, olympics gave me a bit of motivation for that. I did try a bit of board diving since my gym were doing free lessons, that was the first time I'd ever dived into a pool which was something I had been meaning to do.

Did my first sprint triathlon last month and it prompted me to go along to training with my local masters swimming club. First time I've done any swim training in over 15 years!

After a ruinous summer for my general well being - staying in loads, eating ste and drinkig far too much - I decided to get of my arse and get back into lifting/training.

Years back I did a beginners course for Fencing. I really enjoyed it and apparently I had a bit of an affinity for it. I'm going to see what there is here in Dubai to see if I can take it up again.
