How is it easy to call? They ended the day 1 set all with Monf matching Fed all the way. The most recent meeting Monf beat fed on Clay in straight sets and the previous meeting over 5 sets on Clay in France Monf beat Federer in straight sets again.

I certainly wouldn't be amazed if Monf won...

Haven't seen a federer match like that for a while! The Tsonga match is a great match, Nishokori was lucky of the break as he was stuggling and getting beaten now he is playing so relaxed and perfect timing!

Really looking forward to Djokovic vs Nadal today - I reckon this is a career defining match for Nadal. It's a shame the organisers didn't schedule both mens matches on the same court one after the other. As it stand they'll both take place around the same time.

It's great how the momentum can shift so quickly - when Djokovic was serving for a 5-0 lead Nadal was playing horribly. Yet here we are at 4-4. The commentators made an interesting point about how high the ball bounces for Nadal when the weather is hot - they said there is an 8 inch difference for him between hot vs cold conditions on clay.

Wow Djokovic steamrolled Nadal today. Barring that period of 10-20 minutes in the first set it never looked like Nadal could win. Murray looks good 2 sets up too.

Yeah, as good as a run as Murray is having I think Novak is going to end it. Again.

I'd have to agree with that. We could be in for a period of dominance from Djokovic, his game is quite irritating in the fact that it causes opponents to beat themselves as often as it is him beating them. I think it was Kokkinakis who said of Djokovic that it's quite amazing for someone with no weapons to dominate so much.

It'll probably be a dominant few years until someone special emerges from the next generation. Murray will play a distant second fiddle like Roddick/Hewitt did with Federer. Tennis will become ala F1 and the winner is pretty much decided from the outset.

I hope I'm wrong.

I'd love to see Murray come out and revel in the underdog role. Fire in a high first serve percentage and hit harder and throw caution to the wind. If he could do that whilst maintaining focus, anything might be possible.

He's had a great clay court run and really shouldn't go into the semi feeling any weight of expectation.

Murray needs to be able to beat him in his head, as well as on court, if that makes sense..

You just never know.

There's been a lot of 'firsts' that Andy has achieved in the clay season, first title then Masters in Madrid, win against Rafa, Roanic, Nishikori and now Ferrer. Why not Novak too?

Novak had a blistering French Open campaign in 2011 only for Federer to deny him a place in the final. If Andy brings his A game and serve lights out, he has a chance.

Arse.

There's so little between these two, they're both fantastic but even that tiny little bit gives Novak the won.

That said Andy needs to sort out the whole Novak-fake-injury thing, it seems to really get under his skin

Djokovic knows how to break the game up to upset Andy when he is getting the better of him.

That long break has clearly upset the rhythm.

These rallies! Bloody hell. It's just refreshing to know there's someone out there who can rally with Djokovic at the insanely high level of tennis he's set.

Saying that, the very extrovert showing of fatigue/pain/whatever + the moaning + sarcastic displays at the crowd is the reason why he won't be loved the way Federer/Nadal will be.
