Just caught a picture of that Scottish dullard. Notice how he looks remarkably like an ostrich...? hehe

I did notice how he's become one of the finest sportsmen the UK has ever produced. Charming bloke by all accounts too.

I'm sorry, young man, I'll try harder next time. I blame constipation...smile

Would it improve if I gave them all bats?

Evans takes out the very talented, much hyped and seeded Zerev to R3. A big win but barely a peep on the BBC website..

BBC: "Evans beat German Alexander Zverev 6-4 6-4 5-7 6-2 to reach the third round for the first time in three years"

3 Brit boys into R3 in the U.S Open is fantastic! A lot of this is down to Andy as the lower-ranked guys go to Miami and train with him and some of the best players and training teams in the world. This off-season experience and having a highly professional role model is priceless IMO and will help the guys coming up the rankings elevate their game.

Probably better for his development to go as deep as possible without much attention tbh.

No good for him commercially of course!

In Johanna Konta it looks like we could have our first British wta top ten player for over 30 years. Seems a lovely down to earth girl too.

Get in Edmund! It's extremely difficult to break Isner and getting the big win against the home favourite is deeply impressive! Long may the giant slaying continue, Novak up next would be a nice head to take.

Murray looked very impressive against Dimitrov last night and I think he's got a really good chance of winning the tournament. Although Djokovic still heads the world rankings based on on current form I reckon Murray's the best player in the world at the moment....

we'll see if it comes to a rematch between the two - its looking that way although as the tournament progresses we'll find out more about that wrist injury perhaps....

if Murray wins a fourth grand slam title would he be entitled to be called "great"? no question in my mind his career so far has been fantastic for british tennis - notwithstanding Davis cup and two olympic golds (which, personally I'm not 100% convinced contributes to "greatness" in the modern game) -

if he wins four where does that put him on the list?

Murray does still occasionally have unexpected dips in form but with Lendl in his corner I think he'll be in the right frame of mind if he gets to the final. In normal circumstances I'd agree Djokovic looks unlikely to be tested before that stage but I'm not sure how close to his best he is either physically or mentally and there are one or two dangerous players who could take advantage if he doesn't play well (not least Tsonga in his next match). However, if it's a Murray/Djokovic final my money's on Andy!

Slight aside but nice to see Del Potro in the quarter finals; he's had an awful time with injuries so I really hope he manages to stay fit and is soon back where he belongs (which is top 10 at least IMO).

La Monf! I want this lad to take a slam title only slightly less than he does. Outrageous talent, only person I've seen anywhere near to being so unfairly gifted is Dolgopolov. Monfils has shots that don't exist until he creates them.. usually during a big match.

If he can get by Novak (who has had the EASIEST ride to the 1/4s I've ever seen), I'm picking Monf over Andy purely because IF he can stay focused I think he has the tools to get the job done.

Andy leads their head-to-head 4-2 and going by their last match, Monfils will have to get it done in straights or in 4 sets. Straight highly unlikely as Andy is one of the toughest players to hit off the court. Their match at Roland Garros went to 5 with Andy's fitness coming through at the end. Much, much, much prefer to see this as a final vs Novak/Andy.
