Murray looked very impressive against Dimitrov last night and I think he's got a really good chance of winning the tournament. Although Djokovic still heads the world rankings based on on current form I reckon Murray's the best player in the world at the moment....
Looks like I might have put the mockers on our man! Really surprised he lost to Nishikori, especially over 5 sets..... It was a real seesaw match wasn't it.
Nishikori played very well, although he made a lot of forehand errors his backhand was great creating some fantastic angles. First time in a while I've seen Murray struggling in baseline rallies.
However, Murray through it away in the 4th. I understood his frustration about the point being replayed but his game went to pot from that point onwards, and his frustration levels just kept ramping up and up. I can imagine Lendl being pretty unimpressed by that!
I honestly thought when he broke Nishikori's run of games and won 3 on the trot himself that he'd turned it round. But not to be, Nishikori the deserved winner.

Slam number 3 for Stan.
Absolutely and well played Wawrinka, fully deserved; with his weight of shot he's a threat to anyone when he finds his rhythm and I think that win last night means he's still won every Grand Slam final he's played in which is a decent record in itself! Not wishing to take anything away from Stan but I wasn't quite sure whether Djokovic was 100% either physically or mentally throughout the tournament. However, his habit of calling the trainer when things are going against him in a match is getting a bit tiresome; rightly or wrongly it just gives the impression of a tactic to try to throw his opponent's concentration so nice to see it didn't work last night!

Great opening rubber in the Davis Cup this afternoon! As a Brit I was obviously hoping for a Murray win but I do like Del Potro; he always conducts himself so well on and off the court and delighted for him that he appears to be moving back towards his best after all the injury problems he's suffered. However, I hope that's his moment of glory for this tie and that GB come through in the end; think we will but we probably need to win the doubles tomorrow...
Its unlike Murray to lose two 5 set matches especially from winning positions and in two major tournaments....definately a bit knackered although I thought his performance against Pella was pretty good.
Its the rest that are so disappointing, sure they win the odd davis cup match here or there but when it really comes to the crunch other teams just look more hungry (Murrays aside) I was all for Evans facing delpo but in the end playing Mayer and keeping it under wraps was the master stroke...even though he still had to execute as the weight of expectation on GB changed.

A short (or longer) ban might get him to grow up.https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com...
If he doesn't, then he wont be a loss.
If he gets a grip then he will be an asset.
Only way to sort out Kyrios is to ban him for next year's Australian Open, that would send a serious message not to step out of line again.
People need to stop cutting him slack for his behaviour just because he is 21. Rafa Nadal was winning grand slams and was a great example from 19 onwards. Djokovic, Federer and Murray had their moments between 18-23 but they sorted it our pretty early in their career and all 4 were challenging for slams/Masters from then on.

Kyrgios clearly doesn't want to be there and is doing it for other reasons (money) or pressure form elsewhere (sponsors, family etc). I'm not saying that's how he's always been but he's been quite open about saying he preferred basketball to tennis.
Currently he's taking from the sport far more than he's giving. I don't consider drama and unpredictability of his immature actions some sort of feature which draws crowds. It's not wrestling. Will he be missed if he decides to take early retirement, hell no. He's hardly been on the scene long enough to make any real impact.
