He played better than I expected after the layoff.
Glad he got a hard match, an easy one wouldn't have told him a lot.
yes much better, he took Kyrgios by surprise!Glad he got a hard match, an easy one wouldn't have told him a lot.
I did think he looked a bit stiff/walking oddly but his movement seemed fine when playing so...didn't think he had quite enough grunt on his groundstrokes but that will come with matches under his belt

I agree. He can be so great to watch when he is in the right zone, such ashame he keeps ruining it with an atrocious attitude. Reminds me of how snooker player Ronnie O'Sullivan used to be! Andy must see something good in him if they are mates!
I hope Nick can get himself right so we do get to see his best, I have seen him when he is enjoying himself, still with character and without the unpleasantness, a joy to watch.

Absolutely, pretty much my favourite as well. When I saw your post above about that Nadal/Federer match not being your favourite I actually you tubed the Ivanesevic/Rafter match and watched the final two games brought back the memories of watching it all those years ago and even though I knew the result I was still getting properly involved in it again Though Agassi, Ivanesevic is memorable for me as well, remember my friend and I leaping out of our chairs when that one finished!!

Do you think he is finished? I have a feeling he is done! Shame, but if I am right, we won’t see his mother on the tv too much more!
Which would be a great shame given how much she has done, and continues to do for the game. Real shame about Murray, obviously the right decision, I hope he can fight back to the top but not at the cost of his long term health. Not worth that, he has nothing to prove to anyone, just what he wants to still do for himself.

I hope Murray isn't done but I'd have thought the grass court season - where the rallies are shorter and there's less impact from the courts - would make for the easiest route back and hence withdrawing from Wimbledon doesn't look promising (especially given Murray's strong affinity for - and desire to play - that particular tournament). Personally I'd think hard courts - with longer rallies and higher impact - would present more of a challenge for someone recovering from a hip injury but I'm sure he's getting medical advice from people who are properly qualified so hopefully he's come to the right decision. Fingers crossed he'll have a good hard court season in North America and a strong second half of the year but for me the jury's very much out on him at the moment....
I've started playing tennis again (had lessons when i was a teen & played to an ok standard). I've just dug my old tennis racquet out after about 8 years sat in the garage. I've changed the grip so it's actually usable. Would i need to get the strings replaced? It was a pretty basic starter racquet back when i bought it.

Or would i be better off buying an upgrade than spending any more money on the current racquet? I'm planning on playing a few times a month with the view to playing in my gyms league eventually.
