The effort needed to win the tennis has nothing to do with prize money! Then if men finish in 3 set they should get paid less then?

Should be best of five if they want equality. Finish in three if you can do it, should make no difference to the pay out.

I agree, the ladies should play best of 5 sets at slam events. As it is some of the ladies matches are over and done in 45 mins.

That's one of the most exciting tennis matches I can remember. Not only exciting, but the quality was top level. I would have been happy for either to win. I'm unhappy that one had to lose.

What a showcase for the sport.

I'm not sure the players should be paid by the hour. However, the top women earn more than the top men. That can't be right.

I can't quite convince myself that Serena Williams is a woman.

If you said that to her face, she'd ensure you were no longer a man.

yes

Don't mind Williams but it's her fans and cheerleaders that I can't stand - especially this year with all the 'comeback from having a baby' talk we're getting.

I always find Williams rely on power too much to win that placement, glad Kerber looking good to win!

The commentators are overt in their gushing and ass kissing. A super Mom as well! Williams has this PR persona that she is like an angel. She is far from it.

I agree. Saw the whole thing. Best tennis I have ever seen. The shot making and retrieving was simply outrageous at times.

Did anyone actually watch the women’s final (charity donation) ?

Well done Kerber.

Quite how anyone can defend that amount of prize money for that amount of effort/time on the court is beyond me.

And is there any doubt that Djokovic won’t win tomorrow ? They should just give him the trophy tonight, he clearly won it earlier today.

Both my wife and I agree that Womens Grand Slams should be 5 sets to make it test of skill AND stamina; there is no way SW would have got so many GS's with her pure power game if she had the possibility of a five set match ahead of her.

The womens game is becomng a mockery as so many games are two sets in super quick time.

My wife is holding firm to best of 3. 62 minutes. I justify my position by avoiding misogyny claims. More time in court - more advertising revenue.

These woman are elite athletes/ can’t they play 5 sets ffs

Yes. Kerber did well with her placement. However Williams did a lot of unforced errors, and if she played better I suspect she would have won.
