FFS, Novak is too good. Annoyingly.
His days are numbered now though---hopefully.
Starting to show signs of weakness that weren't there before, we think?

Katie Boulter is a set down against the number 12 seed.

Hopefully she can raise her game in the next set.

They are both playing against the conditions - she has come from 2-0 and 15-40 down to lead 5-3 in the second but is now struggling to close the set out against a very determined Wang. 8th game in the set was bloody good tennis from both ladies.

And ER takes the second set on the 4th set point.

Genuinely, for someone who has three operations in the last year that left her in a wheelchair for an extended period and didn't play a competitive game for the last 8 months of this year she is doing as good as could be expected (IMHO)

Her match craft is starting to come back but like every player she needs to up her concentration and effort on break points - I haven't seen the stats but they don't come around often and they need to be won when they are there.

Edit to add; On the break points issue - she took 4 set points to win the second set - had 3 break points to break but didn't take them in the 3rd set 2nd game and has had 4 break points in the 4th game to break but not taken them.

She's suffering physically, hasn't she had Anxiety and breathing issues on court before?

I think this is more match fitness - two three set games recently in Auckland first tournament back is pretty tough and she spent most of the second game trying quite hard not to throw up on Court whilst playing.

Apparently someone threw up earlier on that court during a lengthy match.

Yep, plus in her mind she'll probably be thinking, not another 3 setter...

It was Jack Draper who threw up, after winning the match

And ER out.

Brave effort considering match fitness but as I've said earlier that protected ranking will soon dissolve and leave her fighting in Challenger competitions where she can re-establish herself and string some wins together between Grand Slams.

Shame, a good effort but clearly some way to go I guess at this stage it's all about getting the match experience.

She played well considering her time out with injuries and operations, worried that the perceived fitness dropped off with a bang. I think it's Psychological as she's had this before and struggles to regulate her breathing. I hope I'm wrong and it was just exhaustion (although it wasn't even hot out there)
